Based in Boulder, Day is known for large-scale, high-energy works created on raw canvas using unconventional tools. His paintings balance force and intention, with thick, physical surfaces that hold equal parts tension and release.
A pivotal shift in Dayâs life and ultimately his work came after his wife survived the September 11 attacks in the Twin Towers. In the aftermath, he stepped away from a career in finance and committed fully to painting, channeling that experience into a practice rooted in urgency, gratitude, and transformation. The result is work that doesnât just depict emotion, it processes it, turning upheaval into something unexpectedly expansive and alive.
"Uncontainedâ invites viewers into a body of work that embraces risk, release, and a hard-won sense of joy. Day's ability to transform personal history into visual language has earned him national recognition, with features in major publications and works held in collections across the United States, Europe, and North Africa.Â
âWillâs work carries a kind of electricity you canât fake,â says Gigi Woodward, artist and owner of Woodward Contemporary. âItâs physical, yes, but itâs also deeply human. You feel the shift from chaos to clarity happening right in front of you.â
