Deborah Cross has been making her distinctive, artistic and finely surfaced shirts for decades, and has honed her craft to a constantly changing kaleidoscope of colors and variations. Her pieced and textured clothes are fashionable throughout the year, and wear easily. Her sense of play is apparent, and her blouses, jackets and coats act as her canvas.

As part of Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026, we’re proud to announce California Rising: Beauty By Hand.

This craft fair, taking place at Palos Verdes Art Center from Saturday August 22 through Sunday August 23, is an important, local voice in this year’s semiquincentennial celebration, Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026. It was organized by a small but dedicated group of Southern Californian craft professionals and artists, to include Californian craftspeople from all corners of this great state.
