The gallery is a catalytic conduit for the emerging art scene, and is dedicated to the exposure of its tenets and its artists. From the streets, to the gallery, from the “margins”, to the white cube, Thinkspace is re-envisioning what it means to be “institutional”. As a haven for talent, and a venue founded in passion, conviction, and community, the gallery’s mandate is rooted in projections for its future longevity. Thinkspace Projects is proud to present ‘Next Gen’, a group exhibition presented in collaboration with All Star Press.

Opening Saturday, October 3rd in Chicago, ‘Next Gen’ brings together a new wave of emerging artists from both the East and West Coasts. This exhibition celebrates artistic freedom, individual expression, and the unique perspectives shaping the next generation of contemporary artists.

At its core, ‘Next Gen’ is about authenticity and potential – highlighting what makes each artist distinct while collectively showcasing the energy and diversity of today’s emerging contemporary art scene. Together with All Star Press, we’re excited to introduce a dynamic group of artists whose work represents where the scene is headed next.

Aunia Kahn spent two decades mastering the digital canvas, but she reached a point where her own polished work started to feel like a stranger. The technical precision that once defined her career suddenly felt like a cage, so she chose to walk away from the efficiency of pixels to face the vulnerability of a blank paper surface.

She began again with watercolors, a medium she had avoided for years due to physical sensitivities. This was not a simple change of tools. It was a complete dismantling of her identity as an artist. She pulled inspiration from the maximalist patterns of her childhood, the folk art motifs of her Polish and German heritage, and the colorful textiles she had collected but never thought to translate into her own creative language.

The result is a radical departure from her past, featuring whimsical figures and saturated symbols that seem to vibrate with hidden meaning. These paintings are dense with detail, layering flowers, animals, and folklore into a visual tapestry that rewards long, quiet observation.

When an artist gives themselves permission to be a beginner again, the work loses its calculated edge and gains a pulse. We often measure artistic success by how far someone has traveled in their craft, but perhaps the real breakthrough happens when someone finds the courage to go back to the start. Thinkspace is honored to have been invited to take part in ‘Under One Roof’ down in Newport Beach, California with the Coastline Art Gallery.

The Coastline Art Gallery presents ‘Under One Roof’, a boutique-style art fair bringing together a select handful of Southern California commercial galleries, nonprofit art spaces, and artist-run cooperatives.

The exhibition celebrates the region’s vibrant creative community and the network of artists, galleries, and organizations that contribute to Southern California’s cultural landscape.

‘Under One Roof’ opens to the public on Wednesday, August 26 and continues through Friday, November 6, 2026.
