The series of works originates from Rubén's relationship with his domestic environment, mediated by sounds. It is noticed that the sense of place and intimacy has always been accompanied by a discreet and continuous sound that usually goes unnoticed. Curiously, it becomes present as it ceases. When it is absent, it creates an almost unpleasant vacuum; when it returns, it irradiates a soothing quality in the room. That sustained sound becomes also a place of its own.

RUBEN D’HERS - I STILL HEAR THE SOFT ROAR OF A DISTANT CROWD

Working at the intersection of sound installation, music, and painting, Rubén D’Hers explores the concept of listening as a blurred domain where sounds acoustically generated overlap with our musical and auditory memory.

Frascione Gallery is proud to present Rubén D’Hers: I STILL HEAR THE SOFT ROAR OF A DISTANT CROWD
21/09 – 19/10/2024
Opening Friday, September 20th at 6 pm in cooperation with Villa Romana

Working at the intersection of sound installation, music, and painting, Rubén D’Hers explores the concept of listening as a blurred domain where sounds acoustically generated overlap with our musical and auditory memory.
The exhibition features a sound installation using several acoustic guitars that are gently strummed by a set of motors hanging above the guitars. This system articulates the tuning of each instrument, creating a cluster of chords that evoke music which neither begins nor ends precisely but paradoxically flows in a static state.

Join us for the opening evening on Friday, September 20th from 6 pm on to explore his unique practice in person at Frascione Gallery. A special thanks to .strumenti.musicali

Frascione Gallery is grateful to Cuban artist Reynier Llanes for his generous time and dedication to our education program. We strive to enrich our community’s access to the arts and culture by engaging future generations on a local level. Mr. Llanes recently hosted a series of workshops for students from grades 4-12th at demonstrating his unique use of coffee as a medium.

Students discovered how resourceful an artist can be and interpreted the workshop with their own creations. The hands-on experience provided young students with a wonderful interaction directly with the artist. Mr. Llanes generously donated the artwork he created for the student’s and faculty’s enjoyment.

A captivating selection of Mr. Llanes’ artworks made with coffee can be seen this month at our Palm Beach location.

We see Evangelista di Pian di Meleto’s Saint Sebastian tied to a tree with stoic endurance as we witness the sublimation of limits also narrated by Michelangelo Bastiani’s new genie in the lamp, a dancer who has the strength of a tornado.

In the Timelessness Project every work of art is the fruit of a time and a space, of a history and a geography, but its existence releases new stories in every era and in every place that hosts it.

Timelessness is on exhibit at the Palm Beach gallery until March 30th.

GIROLAMO FORABOSCO

Christ giving blessing ca. 1640
Oil on gold leaf applied to panel, 42 x 32 cm - 16.5 x 12.6 in.

“It is the style and attitude that recurs in one of the most refined and sensual artists of the Venetian Baroque, Girolamo Forabosco. He was a specialist in female portraits, appreciated in particular for the attention given to clothing.

In the artwork , the tenderness of craftsmanship really envelops the magnanimity of Christ. The painting is enriched by a thin sheet of pure gold.

The material on which Nicola Samara designed his work is precious and millennia-old. An onyx that shows a deep wound in the centre, running diagonally with wrinkled branches to the left, it is actually a geode that over millions of years in the heart of a mountain, has sedimented a mineral budding within the stone block.

The painting by the Romagna artist, titled Well of the Prophet is organised around the pre-existing gash. Around it, just as if it were the vera of a well, he has painted the divine face. A face, mirroring Forabosco’s, that simultaneously overlooks and is swallowed by the well of ancestral substance.
Samorì’sloving act of patient reparation distills from the blood and tears of history a second life of the Prophet.” Massimo Pulini , curator
