Ifunanya Nwangene, a 26-year-old Nigerian singer known for her time on The Voice Nigeria, died after being bitten by a snake while she was sleeping in her apartment in Abuja.
The attack happened in the early hours of the morning, and the young woman woke up with severe pain in her leg. She was taken first to a local clinic that did not have antivenom, which made it necessary to transfer her to a hospital. There they tried to stabilize her, but she was having trouble breathing and could not communicate normally. The medical center only had part of the necessary treatment and, before the required dose was completed, she was declared dead.
Later, animal control staff captured two snakes inside the residence.
