Let’s look back together at the opening of the Sierra Leone National Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia, featuring the work of Móyòsóré Martins.

Through his gestural painting, Martins explores themes of memory, identity, and transformation, weaving together intimate narratives and collective perspectives around the concept of “in minor keys.”

Set within the ECOWAS context, the presentation created a meaningful dialogue where differences became connections and new possibilities emerged.

Thank you to everyone who shared this special moment with us at the Biennale.

15: Thomas Ammann (1950-1993) was one of the most legendary dealers of the late 20th century, a quiet force who helped shape the canon of Post-War and Contemporary Art.

Working from Zurich, Ammann had a rare instinct for cultural significance long before the market caught up by recognizing when an artist fundamentally changed the language of art.

Through close relationships with artists including Warhol, Basquiat, Twombly, Rothko, and Lichtenstein, he helped place seminal works into major private and institutional collections, shaping both legacy and market.

His discipline was precise: place important works with serious collectors, build context, protect scarcity, think long-term. The result is the blue-chip landscape we recognize today.

Great collections often begin with curiosity and conviction, frequently through prints and editioned works that offer meaningful entry into the secondary market.

Upsilon New York is currently presenting, “Paper Cut,” a selection of works on paper including, silkscreens, lithographs, inks on paper, woodcut, and more inspired by artists championed by Ammann, and offering compelling access points for new collectors.
