Always wanted to try watercolor painting? Join us for creative, welcoming sessions where you’ll learn watercolor techniques and explore your artistic side.

On Saturday, October 10, 3 pm Katerina Kyselica gave a terrific, professional, informative and educational Artist-guided tour.

Demonstrating Kyselica’s range of material experimentation, Mostly Blues presents mainly works on paper, the artist’s favorite material, including Twittering Machine - a series of large-scale drawings on the traditional Japanese Sekishu paper; and Tsunami
- a series created by using the process of hand papermaking, done in collaboration with the organization Dieu Donné in Brooklyn.
“I really like the tactile quality of paper, whether I use it as a support in drawing or painting or as a structural material in book arts. I carefully choose the paper I use for each project, for there are so many varieties of textures to work with. I’m also drawn to the sound paper makes, both in drawing, where I enjoy it as I mark the paper, and in book arts where I use the acoustic quality of paper to create sensory experience for viewers as they explore my handmade books.”

Join the Roosevelt Island Chamber Music Society for an afternoon of beautiful music rooted in the traditions of the Levant, bringing together traditional instruments and contemporary voices.

“Quiet Noises” Solo show by Connie Tanner is now at The Octagon. From September 28 to December 20, 2026. Opening reception: October 10th from 6-8 pm. Connie Tanner’s latest collages bring together fragments of her own handmade papers — cut, torn, layered, and rearranged into unexpected relationships.
Inspired by the fragments and contradictions of life, the works create a world of “quiet noise” - a place of
comfort, possibility, and new ways of seeing.
As Tanner puts it: “You can never get it wrong; you can only get it different.”

✨ Sacred Container: A Journey Within ✨

Join us at RIVAA Gallery on November 7, 1–4 PM for a creative workshop with instructor Carolee Bongiorno, exploring identity, values, dreams, and possibilities.

Participants will transform an ordinary box into a personal “sacred container,” using colors, textures, images, words, photographs, and found objects to express both how they present themselves to the world and what they carry within.

A creative space for self-expression, reflection, and inspiration — and a meaningful keepsake to take home.
