Salon 94

Salon 94 Salon 94 is an art gallery with three spaces in Manhattan, NYC A satellite exhibition space debuted in September 2007 with sculptural work by Huma Bhabha.

Since its creation in 2002, the mission of Salon 94 has grown from exhibiting special projects by emerging and renowned artists alike in the home of Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn to representing artists such as Marilyn Minter, Lorna Simpson, Jon Kessler and Takeshi Murata. In 2010, a third exhibition space opened on the Bowery with a show of Richard Prince's T-Shirt paintings. Located steps from The N

ew Museum in New York’s Lower East Side, both galleries strive to provide more accessibility to visitors to the developing downtown art scene. Salon 94 is a member of the ADAA (Art Dealer’s Association of America).

Last weekend to visit "Rosetta Galaxy."

"I realized that everything has eyes."

In Sawako Gōda's universe, everything became luminous, and spiritual.

The turn began in Egypt in the 1980s. Gōda settled in the Nubian village of Gabal Takouk, drawn by the Nile's ancient pull. Her work went abstract, visionary. When she eventually moved back to Japan, she dove into the paranormal, the cosmos, and the Eye of Horus.

By 1988, eyes had taken over her canvases entirely—a "Harem of Eyes" that ranged from symbols of protection to sparks of the universe.

“The colors emitted from the last hours of daylight are one of the sky's mysterious phenomena, and it was those that inspired Dutch–New Zealander designer Sabine Marcelis' first solo exhibition in the U.S.,” writes WWD.

The Nebula Sphere draws on the moment before planets and stars take shape. Inspired by hydrostatic equilibrium—the force through which gravity pulls celestial bodies into spheres—each solid resin light encases a luminous colored core, a visible center of gravity. As light passes through the resin in both cool and warm tones, it is transformed, echoing the shifting colors of dusk while evoking a nebula: matter suspended in a state of potential, before form is decided.

Katy Grannan’s latest for The New Yorker — and an excerpt: “Katy Grannan photographed Sherni and other OnlyFans creators for The New Yorker, including a contortionist from Brooklyn and a trio of “Wild Boys” living in a content house in Los Angeles. Grannan is known for her intimate, stripped-down portraits of people on society’s anonymous edges. Being on OnlyFans might seem like the antithesis of anonymity in a world of screenshots and digital footprints, but many on the platform still feel unseen. After Sherni started making OnlyFans content, some friends stopped speaking to her. “Society will unfortunately always have a lot of whore-phobia,” she said. “I don’t get it, because before OnlyFans I was a salacious food influencer. I was deep-throating celery. I’ve always been this girl.” If only everyone understood what OnlyFans creators know well: not everyone’s happy ending looks the same.”

“Once you notice an Amazon on an ancient Greek vase,” writes Justine Koons, “you begin seeing them everywhere. A flash of a patterned garment. A horse rearing into battle. A woman drawing a bow. Scenes charged with movement and emotion. They emerge from fragments of pottery and marble across museums and collections around the world. One sighting leads to another, and before long you find yourself pressed up against display cases, and slowing down in front of every fragment of ancient pottery. Each time I encounter one, I find myself hunting for more!”
