1ST FUZE CARIBBEAN ART FAIR WITH DESMOND BEACH
OCTOBER 21 - 25

Richard Beavers Gallery is pleased to announce our participation in the FUZE Art Fair at The Bahamas Culinary and Arts Festival with artist Desmond Beach presenting Field Notes from the Future.

Field Notes from the Future plants its flag at the intersection of diaspora, craft, and prophecy. The Caribbean itself holds centuries of survival, reinvention and cultural resilience - a fitting ground for work that refuses to wait for permission to imagine what comes next.

Field Notes from the Future asks its audience to read these works the way you read primary sources - with attention, with respect, and with the understanding that what you are looking at has already happened somewhere ahead of us.

We’re always grateful for the continued support of legendary collectors Michael & Susan Hort as they champion Leroy Campbell and his powerful new exhibition, No Small Dreams.

No Small Dreams examines origin, collective memory, and the forces that shape Black life across generations. Through mixed-media works on canvas, Campbell creates a rich visual dialogue connecting Gullah Geechee culture, South Carolina roots, and his formative years in Brooklyn.

LEROY CAMPBELL
NO SMALL DREAMS

Opening this Saturday, No Small Dreams by Leroy Campbell considers the relationship between origin and possibility: how a life is shaped by place, inheritance, and experience without being confined by them. Across nine new mixed-media works on canvas, Campbell draws upon more than four decades of practice to examine self-determination, collective memory, and the forces that shape Black life across generations.

Throughout No Small Dreams, Campbell’s elongated figures command the pictorial field while carrying histories larger than themselves. Painting and collage collapse distinctions between portraiture, archive, memory, and narrative. Photographs, newsprint, domestic interiors, landscapes, pattern, and scenes of labor become more than visual elements; they locate individual lives within broader cultural experience.
