Yesterday was a sad Day for Cultural Institutions. As once the leader of the pack, Brooklyn Children's Museum, bids a forceful goodbye to the very last qualified Educator in the building - 25 year, Early Childhood veteran (and Totally Tots Conceptualizer) Ms. Juliet Gray - who expanded Early childhood programs and services by over 75% since re-opening in 2008 (space remained popular amidst 2 bedbug infestations that were brushed under the rug - 1 intentionally covered up by Senior leadership and never brought to public attention).

Seems that the Senior leaders here continues to successfully abandon the community (DUMBO Annex - http://www.brooklynpaper.com/…/all-bb-children-museum-in-pa…), eliminate longtime, impactful programs that bring communities together, diminish the longstanding Charles Innis Museum Team youth program, and run every qualified, committed, diverse (in thought, ethnicity and ethics) staff member (to include managers, Educators, curators etc), out of the building - all right under the community's nose.

Now stands an empty 117yo shell that has had its institutional and community memory erased, cultural equity devalued, live animal collections depleted, concepts of artifacts/objects to be use as living classroom in edu curriculums marginalized,and community representation strategies/longstanding partnerships demolished. On who's watch did this take place????

How's that for leadership?!!!! Incompetence? yes. Unqualified? yes. Demoralizing? yes. Self Serving? yes. and the list goes on...Our children, community and families deserve better - if the (6 figure salaried) Senior leaders cannot run this community GEM successfully, as it was meant to be, then the Board needs to find others that can. SAVE BCM!
