RECENT ACQUISITION | A FACE FROM ANCIENT NIGER

Terracotta Head
Bura Culture, Niger
c. 3rd–10th century CE
Provenance: Eric Robertson Collection, NYC

More than a thousand years old, yet the face feels startlingly alive. Deep almond-shaped eyes, flared nostrils and a slightly open mouth give this small terracotta head an extraordinary sense of animation—as though caught in the act of speaking or ritual invocation.

JUST ADDED — RECENT ACQUISITION

We’ve just added this remarkable 19th-century Iene ancestor figure from the Leti Islands to our online gallery of Recent Acquisitions.

Compact and intensely expressive, the oversized head, deeply set eyes and enigmatic smile give this figure an extraordinary presence. A wonderful example of the distinctive sculptural tradition of the Leti Islands.

SUMMER SALE

One of the highlights of our Summer Sale.

This remarkable Toraja granary door from Sulawesi is more than an architectural element—it is a beautifully carved work of art. The flowing geometric designs and rich, timeworn surface reflect the skill of the Toraja carvers and the cultural importance of the rice granary, a symbol of prosperity and family heritage.

Now reduced by 50% or more.
