🥁Two days to go! If you haven’t decided on your Carnival outfit yet - this is your best bet!

🎯 This Sunday, join Love After Oil and Museum of Care for a creative workshop at the beautiful The Remakery studio in Brixton in preparation for the Carnival! 🎭

Drawing inspiration from the topsy-turvy vision of the Renaissance carnival, trade union banners and the Dada movement, we’ll transform textile waste, natural materials, and silly, unwearable objects into wearable masterpieces.

Wear your creation to the Carnival, or exchange it for something else in our dressing-up corner.

Free - all materials provided.

Our Nonsensical Poetry workshop at the Anarchist Bookfair was a great success! We explored the origins and key ideas of Dada, listened to examples of Dadaist poetry, and had a go at making our own random and nonsensical creations — resulting in these beautiful poetic collages.

A century ago, Dada challenged the conventions of the art world, questioning what counts as art and who gets to decide. Its use of nonsense, chance and play challenged the idea that art has to be rational, refined or useful.

David Graeber took this question beyond the art world. He believed that all human beings possess an innate capacity for creativity, yet our social order systematically limits who has the time, freedom and resources to explore that creativity.

Today, the power to turn wild fantasies into reality is disproportionately concentrated in the hands of those with enormous wealth and resources. But what if we imagined a different world, where everyone had the time and means to pursue their wildest ideas?

Can we reclaim nonsense, play and the seemingly impossible as sources of social imagination?

Big thanks to for designing and running the workshop, to House of Annetta for providing the space, and to Anarchist Bookfair in London for making it all possible!

Interested? Come to the Carnival on 31 October to try this and other wonderfully nonsensical activities on offer. Reserve your free spot at the link in our bio!

Carnival4David began in 2020, following the unexpected passing of David Graeber, when his wife Nika and friends organised an Intergalactic Memorial Carnival, with groups from more than 200 locations around the world taking part.
In London, David’s friends, neighbours, colleagues and readers gathered at Portobello Green, where David lived and worked. We shared music, dance, memories, joy and sadness — and burned our messages in a ritual fire.
Since then, Carnival4David has become an annual event — an ongoing cycle of temporary revolutions, transforming death into life as we come together to create spaces where social orders can be reimagined.

Carnival4David 2026 is getting closer! ✨

Before we dive into his year’s preparations, we wanted to take a moment to look back at the past 5 years, share our story, and thank all the amazing people who have made the Carnival what it is.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing memories, stories, people, places, ideas, and joyful chaos of the past Carnivals - and, of course, letting you know what’s coming this year.

Watch this space! 👻
