Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. is proud to be a North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM). We also participate in Mass Cultural Council’s EBT Card to Culture, the most comprehensive effort of its kind in the nation to open doors to arts and cultural experiences for low-income families. We offer free admission t

o EBT cardholders through Museums for All, a national access program, that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. EBT and WIC cardholders and their families receive free admission. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Museum offers free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel including National Guard and Reserve and their families through Blue Star Museums.

What will the planet remember about us?

Beth Lipman’s intricate installations reimagine the still life to explore time, mortality, and our impact on the planet. Each installation reimagines history by placing cycles often separated by millennia in proximity, from the ancient botanical to the cultural. Bringing together glass, wood, and other materials, Lipman connects the ancient and the contemporary, inviting us to reflect on Deep Time, fragility, and the traces we leave behind.

Stop by and experience the final weekend of Synergies: Hybrid Art!

Juried by Amy Lemaire & Nicolas Touron, the exhibition brings together artists whose works emerge through combination, transformation, and unexpected connections.

Artist Marcy Chevali explores the net as both boundary and support. Using materials such as glass, brass wire, and mohair yarn, Chevali transforms delicate materials into structures that hold an unexpected strength, balancing fragility, protection, and resilience.

Join us this weekend before Synergies: Hybrid Art comes to a close on August 30.

"I take pleasure working in a slow, low-tech medium, while the world is careening towards AI." - Patricia Autenrieth

Patricia Autenrieth trained in sculpture, migrated to painting, then fell into fiber art. She has carried bits of her previous incarnations along for the ride: employing drawing, printmaking, collage, photography and the computer while adding three dimensional elements like trapunto in quilts and spiral trellis, woven picot stitch and victorian tufting in embroidery.

In embroidery she uses appliqué and heat transfer methods she used in her quilts. She approaches her work intuitively, to discover new approaches, a process to help keep her work from looking schematized and to give her work a spontaneity the time-consuming medium often lacks.

Synergies: Hybrid Art closes August 30.

Opening September 10, agriCultural: A Biennial Exhibition.

The Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) in partnership with The New Bedford Art Museum presents agriCultural: A Biennial Exhibition, a juried exhibition of works investigating the complex and undertold stories of agriculture, farming, and the contemporary stories held in the land. agriCultural looks for work from artists who are farmers, farmers who are artists, or artists that take deep and meaningful inspiration from the world of agriculture to create their work.

With over 20 works selected for this inaugural exhibition, the show features contemporary visual works that bridges the gaps, uncovers the stories and opens up the possibilities of the intersectionality of art, culture, and agriculture.

Thomas Deininger is a Rhode Island based artist whose work combines environmental concerns with an innovative approach to image making. His found object assembalges are constructed from non-recyclable, non-biodegradable materials that pile up in our nations landfills.

Works like this provide a thoughtful response to mass consumerism. He asks the viewer to reconsider the potential for transcendence of the mundane.

Amy Lemaire & Nicolas Touron’s Nature series and The Age of Aquarius take the form of post-anthropocene myth-making. Their porcelain structures evoke ruins, fortresses, and future infrastructures, while handblown glass elements hover between organism and artifact. Together, these forms suggest speculative worlds where biology, architecture, and data logic converge, where nature is no longer a backdrop, but an unstable, constructed condition.

Their work is currently on view in Vanishing Ecologies: Speculative Futures, an international group exhibition exploring how artists respond to a planet shaped by environmental change, technological systems, and deep time.

Vanishing Ecologies: Speculative Futures closes October 11.
