The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum The Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Garden Museum is a National Historic Landmark at 396 County Street in New Bedford, MA.

The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum is so named for the three prominent families who resided at 396 County Street. The house and gardens chronicle 150 years (1834-1981) of economic and social life in the city, as reflected in the lives and stories of those who lived and worked at the property. Furnished period rooms display the decorative arts, furniture and belongings of the families and timeframe. The Museum offers permanent and changing exhibits, lecture series, community and educational programs.

The Great Pumpkin Parade was a spooky, fun time! Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the historic RJD gardens and Toe Jam Puppet Band. Thank you to those who carved pumpkins for our display, especially Our Sisters School students and families who came and carved the majority of the pumpkins. We love being a part of AHA! New Bedford and can't wait for next time.

Did you hear? The RJD was awarded TWO audience voted awards with the South Coast Almanac!

We are thrilled to have received the silver award for "Best place to Take Summer Visitors" and "Best Event Venue" for South Coast Almanac's Best of the South Coast 2026. Thank you to everyone who voted for us!

You can also see our new advertisements in the South Coast Almanac publications, paid for in part by a grant from South Eastern Massachusetts Visitors Bureau.

The Great Pumpkin Parade is almost here. Join us tomorrow at the RJD anytime between 4pm and 8pm to explore the Jack-O-Lantern display in our gardens or complete a scavenger hunt in the museum. At 5:30pm, Toe Jam Puppet Band will perform. This event is free, as part of AHA! New Bedford, with a suggested donation of $10 for families or $5 for individuals.

The Great Pumpkin Parade returns to the RJD on October 8 from 4pm- 8pm for ! New Bedford! At 5:30pm, Toe Jam Puppet Band will perform for kids and families! Explore the grounds, see the Jack-O-Lantern display, enjoy candy and hot chocolate, and participate in a scavenger hunt inside the museum! This event is free, with a suggested donation of $5 for individuals and will perform for kids and families!
