On yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting an exceptional group of students and chaperones from Phoenix High School in Phoenix, Louisiana.
To enhance their experience, the group was divided into three segments to allow for more effective learning, listening, and standing in the spaces where history was made. They enjoyed hearing stories about the historic Centennial Hill neighborhood and notable professional residents in the area. Additionally, they learned about civil rights leaders, activists, freedom riders, the bus boycott, the Selma to Montgomery March, green book locations, and unsung heroes of that era.
We extend our gratitude to Ms.Janae Rose Tinson, an educator at Phoenix High School, for permitting us to share the rich history of Montgomery with her students and chaperones.
We also appreciate the assistance of Val Smedley with Tours of Montgomery and our team of volunteers who contributed to the success of the day.

Yesterday, the Harris House welcomed the cast of 'We Shall Someday,' an original musical by Harrison David Rivers and Ted Shen. The production was commissioned and premiered by Theater LattΓ© Da in Minneapolis in April-May 2023.
The musical tells the story of three generations of a Black family struggling with inequality, violence, and oppression over three decades, from the Freedom Riders in 1961 to the Rodney King protests in 1992.
