They had been deported to the camp from a psychiatric hospital in Kobierzyn, near Kraków.

A Jewish boy, Ivan Fink, born in Prague, was deported to Auschwitz concentration camp with his mother, Marie Finková, in 1944.

Of the 1,700 people deported with them, 1,517 were murdered shortly after arrival.

Ivan and his mother did not survive the selection process.

Rivka Veis (née Haberman) was born in 1904 in Užhorod, Czechoslovakia. She worked as a seamstress and lived in Užhorod before World War II.

She was murdered at Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944.

Dawid Wiśnia was a Polish Jewish Holocaust survivor whose voice quite literally saved his life.

Born in 1926, he was imprisoned in Auschwitz, where his remarkable singing talent earned him small privileges that helped him survive.

After escaping and later joining the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, he rebuilt his life in America as a cantor and storyteller, dedicating himself to sharing lessons of resilience and hope.

He passed away at the age of 95.

This presentation marks an extraordinary institutional milestone: a special two-and-a-half-year stay at one of the world’s leading Holocaust memorial and educational institutions

Featuring over 500 original objects from the collections of the Auschwitz Memorial / Muzeum Auschwitz and more than 20 international museums and institutions, the exhibition will be free and open to the public for the first time in its international tour.
