🎷✨ What a memorable evening of history, music, storytelling, and community!

The Voice of Black Cincinnati was honored to partner with the Harriet Beecher Stowe House to present the Edgemont Inn Tavern Re-Enactment, bringing to life the legacy of the historic Edgemont Inn, a Green Book-listed tavern and boarding house operated by Irene Bacon during the segregation era.

Together, we celebrated a place that once served as a safe haven for Black travelers and a gathering space for the Walnut Hills community. Through live music, storytelling, food, local vendors, and fellowship, guests experienced an important piece of Cincinnati's Black history in a powerful and engaging way.

🎢 The YOLO Band transported us back to the sounds of the 1940s with an incredible performance of jazz, swing, and blues, while πŸ“– storyteller Brandi La'Sherrill shared stories that connected us to the people, culture, and experiences that shaped this historic site.

🀝 We are grateful to everyone who attended, supported, performed, volunteered, shopped with local vendors, and helped us preserve and share these important stories. A special thank you to our sponsors, ArtsWave and Carl & Dawn Satterwhite, for helping make this event possible.

πŸ“Έ Take a look at some of the highlights from an evening dedicated to honoring the past, celebrating Black culture, and strengthening community connections.
