This week in Critter Corner we have a special announcement! You may remember the young lined seahorses we introduced last summer. Last month our male gave birth to hundreds of babies! That's right, seahorses are one of the very few known species where the male carries and delivers the offspring. A single clutch can result in as little as 100 babies, and as much as 1,500! These babies are less than 2 centimeters long at birth, but with a constant diet of baby brine shrimp, they are growing fast!

Mark Your Calendars!! Join Science Spectrum for the Teddy Bear Repair event on September 19th from 11am-3pm!

Children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal in need of care to the ExploraZone on the main floor of Science Spectrum Museum for a day of repair, care, and check-up fun!

There, stuffies and their children will find:
A Repair Station - This station will be available for stuffie check-ups, to fix tears, stuffing loss, and button/eye replacements.
An X-ray table where kids can identify their own stuffed animal’s heart, brain and stomach.
An Accessories Craft Table - what is a day out with your stuffie without a little pampering? Kids can make neck ties, purses, and friendship bracelets for their stuffie!
An Animal Obstacle Course! Children will be challenged to imitate how their stuffed animal would make its way through an obstacle course!

This event is geared towards children ages 2-8. You can find Teddy Bear Repair activities in the ExploraZone next to the Lubbock Children’s Museum on the main floor of the Science Spectrum Museum.

Science Spectrum would like you to meet local 9 year old artist, Moses! Moses is a young explorer that moved with his family to Lubbock from Odessa a little over a year ago. After experiencing Science Spectrum for the first time, they said they knew it was a place where they would spend lots of time!

Moses gifted Science Spectrum artwork for the first time last year, and has been bringing art by often for the staff to enjoy ever since! We want to invite everyone to enjoy Moses' art as guests pass by the museum's gift shop!

Thank you Moses!
