Museum at Texas Tech University

Museum at Texas Tech University Made up of six collections totaling over 9.5 million objects, the Museum of Texas Tech University! It received continuing accreditation in 1998 and 2008.

The Museum of TTU is an educational, scientific, cultural, and research element of Texas Tech University. Collections include Paleontology, Art, History, Clothing and Textiles, Anthropology, and the internationally recognized Natural Science Research Laboratory (NSRL). The Museum also includes the Moody Planetarium, Lubbock Lake Landmark, an archeological dig site located just miles North of the M

useum, and also houses the Heritage and Museum Sciences Masters degree program. The Museum of Texas Tech University was first accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM) in 1990. Accreditation by the AAM demonstrates "a professional level of operation in accordance with the standards of excellence prescribed by the American Association of Museums..." The Museum was granted reaccreditation from AAM in 2020.

Today, we welcomed professional pianist Clayton Stephenson to the Museum, alongside Jim Arnold of the Helen Jones Foundation and Heather Hocker, CEO of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.

Clayton received a special tour from our Executive Director, Dr. Aaron Pan, with a behind-the-scenes look at the Museum’s paleontology and art collections.

Tomorrow evening, September 3, see Clayton Stephenson live as he takes the stage as the featured performer with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra at Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences.

The August Night Hike is canceled due to an extreme heat advisory. Visitors’ safety is a priority for the Landmark. Thank you for your cooperation.

Gates open at 7:20 p.m. for our Saturday, Aug. 22nd, Night Hike. Gates close again at 9:40 p.m. Guided hikes start at 7:50 p.m. Please note that we are protected by state and federal laws. No dogs are allowed on the trails for their safety, the safety of our wildlife, and the protection of our nature preserve and archaeological site. Also, trails are only open when the Interpretive Center is open during public hours. Thank you for your cooperation.
