LUX Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to provide high quality visual arts experiences and educational opportunities for its community through art classes, artist in residency programs, gallery exhibitions, and community outreach. The center, organized as the University Place Arts Center in 1977, was renamed in honor of Gladys M. Lux - benefactor, artist, and art

s educator - who purchased and donated the building for arts education purposes. On the LUX campus you will find five free gallery spaces to explore, a gift shop with artwork from local, regional, and national artists, classrooms, artist studios, and the Community Art Alley where the public can take photos and make their own creations with paint. The LUX welcomes people from all walks of life to learn about art in an environment that encourages exploration.

Join us today for a special one-day Art Sale Fundraiser featuring a collection built over decades of love for Nebraska art.

The Strand Sisters have donated works gathered through years of visits to LUX with their mother, Rita Mae Strand—turning a family tradition into a meaningful gift for our community. What began as simple gallery visits grew into a lifelong connection to local artists, collecting, and shared joy. Now, this collection is being shared with you.

Stop by from 3-5pm, spend time with the work, and be part of this heartfelt tribute. We’ll be gathering with Billie Strand, family, and friends to celebrate! All proceeds support LUX Center for the Arts and help keep creativity accessible to all.
