Anti-oppression Art

Anti-oppression art is derived in part from a quote by Huey Newton. When the organization he chaired (The Black Panther Party), was accused of being anti-white, Huey replied, "We ain't anti-white we're anti-oppression." So anti-oppression art as an organization seeks to put into practice the ideas laid out in such works as "Cultural Action For Freedom" by Paulo Freire, "The Criteria of Negro Art"

by W.E.B. Du Bois, and "Position Paper #1 on Revolutionary Art" by Emory Douglas. In short words Anti-oppression art is a loose association of revolutionaries who happen to be proffessional artists, and as such we seek to make the world a better place by using culture to raise revolutionary flags, in the hopes that someday somebody gives a salute.
