A rare and contemplative painting ✨ Armenian-American artist Hovsep Pushman (1877–1966) was celebrated for his luminous still lifes and mystical portraits inspired by Asian art and symbolism. Born in historic Armenia, he became the youngest student admitted to the Imperial School of Fine Arts in Constantinople at only 11 years old.
Pushman later studied in Paris and became internationally recognized for his richly detailed paintings featuring oriental objects, glowing candlelight atmospheres, and poetic spiritual themes. His works were collected by major museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and admired for their elegance, mystery, and technical mastery.
In 1932, all 16 paintings in his solo exhibition at New York’s Grand Central Art Galleries sold on opening day — a rare achievement in the art world. His paintings continue to captivate collectors and art lovers around the world today. 🎨✨
