Blount Mansion

Built in 1792, the Blount Mansion served as the residence of William Blount, Governor of the Southwest Territory. We are nonprofit, educational organization.

Tours are at the top of the hour. Tuesday - Saturday tours begin at 10AM with the last tour of the day starting at 3. Sundays tours start 12pm last tour starts at 3pm. The Blount Gardens are open to the public during business hours. Closed Mondays and on major holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day

Closed for University of Tennessee home games. Parking is available on those dates for $25.

Your tax dollars at work - check out the new roof on Blount Mansion!

In April, the City transferred $60,000 from its Historic Preservation and Façade Improvement Program to help the Gov. William Blount Mansion Association protect the historic home, which dates to the late 1700s and is a National Historic Landmark. The funds are paired with a state grant to reroof the home and outbuilding in cedar roofing shakes.

Last night, two young men stole the flags from our flag poles at our visitor center on the corner of Gay Street and Hill Avenue at about 2:15 in the morning. What is especially galling about this is our flags were at half staff for Dolly Parton. Considering those flags were donated by a generous downtown resident I’m sure Miss Dolly would be very disappointed in these two young men. We have filed a police report with KPD and submitted the footage of them stealing from us. Considering everything we do is made possible by our generous donors we sure hope these two young men grow up and do better and learn not to steal from anyone much less an educational nonprofit.

NEXT MONTH!! - Blount Mansion is proud to present local living legend, Laura Still, for our Centennial Anniversary Lecture Series!

On Thursday, August 13th at 6pm, Laura Still will speak on "The Women Who Changed Blount Mansion’s History!"

One hundred years ago, in a time of fluctuating values and new cultural concepts, a group of women banded together to salvage a piece of our disappearing past: the Blount Mansion.

Meet the women who had the vision to see a decaying old house as the birthplace of Tennessee and took on the tremendous challenge of saving it for future generations.
