Happy International Museum Day from the Museum of Nebraska Art!

There’s no better day to stop by the MONA and spend time with the stories, artists, and connections that make art so meaningful. Pictured here is Portrait of Miss Eulabee Dix (Becker) in Wedding Gown by Robert Henri, a work lovingly referred to by museum staff and visitors as “The Bride.”

Stop by the museum today to learn more about this work, the artists behind it, and the fascinating Nebraska connections woven throughout MONA’s collection.

We’re a little late, but there’s still plenty to celebrate!

Last Sunday marked one year since the Museum of Nebraska Art reopened its doors, and what an incredible year it has been. From exhibitions and events to welcoming visitors from near and far, we are grateful for every moment shared with our community over the past year.

Take a look back at these photos from the grand reopening celebration one year ago and help us celebrate this exciting milestone. Thank you for being part of MONA’s first year back — here’s to many more years of art, creativity, and connection ahead.

Figure Drawing: Clothed Studies May 12, 2026 | 6:30pm - 8:30 pm

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at figure drawing? Want a little artistic refresher? Our live figure drawing event is designed to meet every artist where they are. Participants will draw a live, clothed model in an open studio format. The session begins with quick gesture sketches, moves into longer studies, and ends with a final pose for a completed drawing. This event is open to all skill levels, but the focus of this workshop is to practice proportion, gesture, movement, and perspective. Come join us for an opportunity to grow your artistic skills!

- No instruction
- Open to individuals age 15 and up
- Easels, benches, boards, and tables are provided. Please bring drawing paper/sketchbooks and drawing materials of your choice.

Even though the Spirit Art Auction recently ended, there’s still plenty to see at the Museum of Nebraska Art.

Head up to our second-level gallery to experience In Search of Ourselves, an exhibition that explores a big question with no single answer: what is Nebraska art? From early artist-explorers to contemporary voices, this show reimagines our permanent collection of over 5,000 works through themes rather than timelines—inviting you to discover how artists and artworks become part of Nebraska’s story.

On view now—come see what Nebraska art can be.

In Search of Ourselves is made possible by the Terra Foundation for American Art, the National Endowment for the Arts, and conservation support from the Peck Stacpoole Foundation.
