Today, we celebrate Aníbal Vallejo.

Through painting and hand embroidery, Vallejo has developed a distinctive visual language in which the human figure, color, and material come together in compositions that move between the visible and the intimate.

This year, the celebration carries special meaning for Art of the World Gallery as we prepare to present Inner Landscapes, his upcoming solo exhibition, on view from October 15, 2026, through January 19, 2027.

Happy Birthday, Aníbal. We are honored to celebrate your work and to share this new chapter with our community.

On October 9, we celebrate the birth of Sophia Vari (1940–2023), an artist whose extraordinary vision transformed geometry, volume, and space into a language entirely her own.
Throughout her remarkable career, Vari created sculptures of both intimate and monumental scale, balancing strength and movement with an unmistakable sense of harmony. Her work extended across sculpture, painting, collage, and jewelry, yet always remained rooted in a profound exploration of form.

Art of the World Gallery has had the privilege of representing Sophia Vari and presenting her work throughout the years, sharing her singular artistic legacy with collectors and audiences in Houston and internationally.

Today, we remember her with admiration and gratitude, celebrating an artist whose work continues to command space, invite contemplation, and endure beyond her lifetime.

Happy Birthday, Sophia Vari.

Aníbal Vallejo

Acrylic and hand embroidery converge in “Untitled #598”, reflecting Aníbal Vallejo’s exploration of the human figure through color, form, and line. Embroidery moves beyond detail to become part of the composition itself, adding a tactile dimension to the painted surface.

“Study for The Blind Storyteller” 2025
Julio Larraz
Oil on canvas, 24 × 30 inches

In “Study for The Blind Storyteller”, Julio Larraz brings his distinctive narrative approach to painting, creating a scene that feels suspended between observation and imagination. The work reflects the enigmatic quality that runs throughout his practice, where imagery often suggests a story without fully revealing it.

“Justice” (Table Top) 2024
Carole A. Feuerman

Through “Justice” (Table Top), Carole A. Feuerman reimagines a universal symbol through her signature hyperrealist vision. Combining oil on resin with polished stainless steel and a crystal cap, the work explores themes of balance, humanity, and reflection, inviting viewers to consider the enduring relationship between justice and the human experience.

“Untitled #564” 2019
Aníbal Vallejo

Acrylic and hand embroidery on canvas, 71 × 59 inches

In Untitled #564, Aníbal Vallejo brings painting and hand embroidery into a single visual language. The contrast between the painted surface and embroidered lines gives the composition a tactile dimension, transforming thread into an integral part of the work.
