Installation View | Impressions of Texas: Women Printmakers
A PrintHouston 2026 Biennial Exhibition

On View through July 1st

From Early Texas printmaking and Midcentury Modernism to contemporary practice, our PrintHouston presentation celebrates the richness and evolution of printmaking across the state. Featuring woodcuts, linocuts, etchings, lithographs, and monotypes by artists including Colleen Blackard, Kathleen Blackshear, Margie Crisp, Constance Forsyth, Barbara Maples, Susu Meyer, Charlotte Seifert, Ethel Spears, and Stella Sullivan, the exhibition reflects the diverse visual language of Texas.

We are also honored to collaborate with Red Bird Press, highlighting Houston’s vibrant printmaking community through works by Hannah Bender, Lauren Christieb, and Liz Gates.

Controlled Collision: DUAL, Jonathan Paul Jackson, John Forse

On view: May 16th- July 1st, 2026
Opening Reception: Saturday, May 16th, 2-6 PM

Foltz Fine Art is pleased to present Controlled Collision, a group exhibition featuring Houston-based artists DUAL, Jonathan Paul Jackson, and John Forse.

Bringing together three distinct practices, the exhibition explores the dynamic interplay of mark-making across abstraction, material experimentation, and collage. DUAL’s bold, hard-edge compositions embed urban wildlife within vibrant geometric fields. Jackson transforms recycled paper into sculptural surfaces layered with nature-inspired imagery and symbolic language. Forse constructs intricate collages from found imagery and unconventional materials, balancing playfulness with emotional depth.

Together, their works reveal unexpected connections between process, material, and meaning, where contrast becomes a catalyst for dialogue.

“Erected by the people, for the use of the people.”

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston stands today as one of the nation’s leading cultural institutions, but its beginnings were far more humble, shaped by a community driven by purpose rather than patronage.

Join author Linda Dodge for a thoughtful conversation tracing the museum’s origins and the enduring vision that continues to define Houston’s cultural landscape.

Hosted in conjunction with The Houston Earlier Texas Art Group (HETAG).

Installation View | E. Dan Klepper: Wayfinder: Navigating the Natural Order

Presented in conjunction with FotoFest, Wayfinder: Navigating the Natural Order brings together a series of photographs and constructed images that examine how we orient ourselves within the shifting systems of the natural world.

Tracing connections between eclipses, moon phases, tides, and weather, Klepper draws parallels to the symbolic codes humans have long used to find direction, from ancient constellations to the Hobo Code once marked along travel routes. His work reveals navigation not only as a geographic act, but as something embedded in daily rhythms and lived experience.

Balancing observation and imagination, Wayfinder reflects on the ways pattern and chaos coexist in both nature and human life. The exhibition invites viewers to consider navigation as both a practical and poetic act, a way of reading the signals written into light, land, and time.

On view through May 2nd.

Installation View | Mary Baxter: Random Moments From South County

Mary Baxter’s work unfolds as a quiet meditation on place, where memory, atmosphere, and lived experience come together.

Drawn from her time between Marfa, Texas, and Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Baxter reflects an enduring engagement with the landscapes of Far West Texas and southern New Mexico. Her paintings move beyond representation, revealing a personal vision of place shaped by years of working, ranching, and close observation.

Her work captures fleeting impressions and subtle changes in light and landscape, drawn from a life lived closely with the land, inviting a slower, more contemplative way of seeing.

On view through May 2nd.

THE PROFOUND BEAUTY AND WILD LANDSCAPE of Texas’ Big Bend region has long-inspired Texans, Americans, and visitors from across the world. The Department of Homeland Security plans to build a border wall through this treasured region, despite historically limited crossings. This is one of the most remote stretches of the border, where harsh terrain already functions as a deterrent. A permanent barrier would industrialize public lands, harm the local economy, decrease private property values, endanger arid and riparian ecosystems, diminish protected dark skies, and destroy irreplaceable archaeological sites. Border security should be specific to place. The Big Bend is NOT the place for a wall.
