UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO THE WORLD CUP FINAL AT THE SAME TIME, THIS LECTURE HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR THIS SUNDAY. A NEW DATE WILL BE POSTED IN THE FUTRE. Albert Steg will share obscure discoveries from the Magnolia Historical postcard collection celebrating the forgotten Willow trees that once graced the village. Included are some views of local roadways whose locations have not yet been determined. Come help us make sense of our collection, also learn how you can contribute to our local history.
This lecture will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026 @ 2:00 PM. at the Magnolia Historical Society & Museum, 46 Magnolia Ave. Magnolia, Mass.
Doors open @ 1:00 PM with the Archive/Museum room will be open.
Light refreshments will be available along with merchandise for sale
Admission: $5.00 for non-members

The Magnolia Historical Society would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the incredible volunteers who came out to help care for the Magnolia Historical Cemetery.

Thank you to Tony Gross, Councilor-at-Large, Victoria Mansfield, Cindy Williams, Jack Montgomery of Montgomery Tree, Bob and Betty Cannon, Lisa Ramos, Claire Decker Locher, Jamie Lee, Judy Gilliss for your hard work and commitment today and Rich and Nicole Hochmuth Dailey for lending us rakes and shovels.

A special thank you to Wolf Hill Garden Center for donating the flowers year after year to beautify our cemetery.

For more than 20 years, members of the Magnolia Historical Society have lovingly adopted and maintained this historic space, preserving its beauty and honoring those who came before us. It is because of volunteers like you that this important work continues.

We look forward to seeing everyone again in October for our fall cleanup—hope you can join us! Your time, effort, and dedication truly make a difference.

Saturdays are Volunteer and Visitor Day!
Today we had volunteers painting, archiving, and discussing our next lectures—bringing new energy and care into preserving Magnolia’s history.

But there is still so much more to do, and we would love your help.

We’re looking for volunteers in any capacity, whether you have a few hours or want to be more involved. Current needs include:
• Organizing and cataloging archives
• Computer/data input
• Grant writing
• Small hands-on projects around the museum

No experience is necessary—just a willingness to contribute and be part of something meaningful in our community.

We are open every Saturday from 10 AM to 12 PM—sometimes later. Stop by and see what we’re working on.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, this is a wonderful place to start.

Come & join us on Sunday, March 15th and listen to David Fay tell us the history of the North Shore Swimming Pool/Manchester Bath & Tennis Club.
The doors will be open @ 2:00 PM as the Archive room will be open with a historical display.
At 3:00 PM the lecture will start.
The Magnolia Historical Society is located @ 46 Magnolia Ave. (the little red schoolhouse).
This event is free to members & $5.00 for non-members.
There will be refreshments.

"This presentation will document the formation & early years of the beach club that was originally known as the North Shore Swimming Pool & eventually became the Bath & Tennis. It was 1913 with the "Gold Coast" in its heyday when a few summer residents formed a small club that would give them the opportunity to enjoy the beach, water, & beauty of Magnolia with their families. The presentation will also include the history of how Magnolia rose from a quiet fishing village to being known as "Little Newport"."
David Fay will be giving a lecture about this place on Sunday, March 15, 2026 (snow date March 22, 2026) @ 3:00 PM. @ the Magnolia Historical Society Museum, 46 Magnolia Ave.
Doors will open @ 2:00 PM & the Archive room will be open to the public with a display along with refreshments. Hope to see you there
