As of this week, Dave Kaphammer, North Shore-based painter and NSAA member, is showcasing several of his vibrant pastels at the Beauport Hotel, up through April 14, 2026. This gorgeous body of work features familiar scenes from the coastal towns along Boston’s North Shore, the grunginess of a boatyard, and the light dancing on the streets of his Salem neighborhood.
Dave Kaphammer seeks inspiration in light and shadow, especially the warm glow of low afternoon sun that brings drama, form, and emotion to his work. He is particularly drawn to the strength of trees, their reflections, and the striking blue shadows they cast on fresh snow. Kaphammer has studied with Jeanne Rosier Smith and other accomplished artists, and has taught classes and workshops while living in Salem, Massachusetts. He is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, and the Copley Society of Art, an artist member of Rockport Art Association and the North Shore Art Association. He has achieved Master Circle status with the International Association of Pastel Societies.
