Would you like to hold a piece of the Solar System in your hand? Would you like to touch a piece of Mars? The Monnig Meteorite Gallery can provide you with this experience. By visiting the gallery, you will have the opportunity to explore the mysteries of meteorites! Meteorites are the oldest materials known — older than any rock formed on Earth! Learn how to identify a meteorite, experience a hands-on encounter with different types of meteorites, and create your own terrestrial impact crater. Our Clubbers had an out-of-this-world adventure!

We took a field trip to the Oscar E. Monnig Meteorite Gallery, where our Clubbers explored the fascinating world of meteorites, learned about space rocks, and even got to see and touch real meteorites!

A big thank you to the gallery staff for sharing their knowledge and making the experience so engaging for everyone.

We love getting out into the community, discovering new things, and making memories together! 💙💛

Take a close look at this meteorite… 👀
What do you think caused these strange “thumbprints” on its surface?

Here are your clues:
👍 They look like someone pressed their fingers into the rock.
🔥 They formed during the meteorite’s journey through Earth’s atmosphere.
🪨 You can find them on some iron meteorites.

Think all space rocks are called meteorites? Think again! 👀

It all depends on where they are:

☄️ Meteoroid = A rock traveling through space

🌠 Meteor = The bright streak of light you see when it enters Earth's atmosphere (aka a "shooting star")

🪨 Meteorite = The piece that survives the journey and lands on Earth

✨ Same space rock. Three different names.
