Military Museum of Fort Worth

Military Museum of Fort Worth WE HONOR. WE PRESERVE. WE EDUCATE. Every soldier's story is unique. Every artifact has its own tale.

By combining the display of actual artifacts with the soldier's story who owned them we aim to educate in a way that leaves a lasting memory.

Update on the Half Track. Bill and Tyler from the Museum were there. Johnny K made it in to help as did one of Tylers stage crew. (I didn't catch his name) and we had a new volunteer show up, David. Things were going well until gas was smelled in the back yard. The FD was called but they couldn't localize it. After discussion it was decided to refer it to Atmos. Then we broke due to heat and Lunch time.

Latest update on Ron's Halftrack. The engine compartment is empty and ready to clean and paint. Next big step is pulling the trans to clean it. When not working on big projects we are getting the minor details done.

We may have downsized, but we are still sharing history. Tuesday we were at The Wellington at NRH to help them honor Memorial Day. Just under a dozen of the residents came by, and about a half dozen stayed and talked with us. That included a Marine that arrived at Okinawa just as Japan surrendered. He then spent some time in China helping move the Japanese soldiers back to Japan. Tyler wants to interview him about that,
Several Residents and staff took advantage of a jeep ride.

The museum is not dead. We did have to leave Ridgmar mall (which is basically dead, unless the new owners do something major). The Archives and Library have moved to Dorothy Lane, the artifacts are in storage, and we have some mobile and remote exhibits being planned.
Ron's tank is running at the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, and his halftrack is being worked on now that some of us have some spare time. Keep watching here for updates.
