You can find a small selection of Can Can Pressโ€™s heavy hitters on our shelves! My current top two faves that are part of my library are Que Me Toquen Una Cumbia! (Y Algo Mรกs) and Archivo de Simple Curiosidad!

Archivo de Simple Curiosidad by Can Can Press + MishMash is a book that archives graphics, spiritual products, and occult goods found throughout The Sonora Market in Mexico City.

Que Me Toquen Una Cumbia! (Y Algo Mรกs) by Bianca Forischi is a visual homage to cumbia, Latin Americaโ€™s most listened-to genre. Through a tropical timeline spanning vinyl, cassette, CD, and USB, the zine traces cumbiaโ€™s graphic evolution from the 1950s to today.

How To Talk To Space People by Courtney Knight + Jack Graydon opening reception happening tonight from 7-9:30PM!

A world of rewritten stories.
Forgotten myths and images.
The search for the magic and the mystical hiding inside this modern landscape is closer than you think.

This collaborative exhibition by Oakland artists Courtney Knight and Jack Greydon guides us through learning a new language in their debut show as partners, How to Talk to Space People.

This deeply personal and at times playful show is rooted in observational drawing, and explores what happens when themes from animation, ancient mythology, and iconography meet wood, ceramic, and paint. When their classically trained techniques meet the expressions of dreamscape, new collective consciousness unfolds throughout the show, taking us through visions from altered states. Did we see that right, or are we just high?

The answer lies within.
