Marshall’s 5.1 floor lamp is not new to our space. Back in 2024, the first version of 5.1 made its appearance in our gallery as part of Perspectives, a group show where we brought together functional and sculptural design pieces from our community.

Pictured in the last two slides is an earlier version of the 5.1, from a time when Marshall was just beginning to develop his lighting fixtures. There were more intentionally raw edges, exposed materials, and organic bends throughout his pieces. It’s really special to see the evolution of this model and where it is now, cleaner, more refined, but still deeply intentional.
What’s even more special is being able to physically witness the journey Marshall has been on since then. You can see the subtle shifts in his forms, materials, and approach that have been shaped by both his personal and creative growth.

I like to think of these photos as a little window into that journey, I also had fun creating these illustrations for our opening reception posters (-:

In Pursuing Light, Marshall invites viewers into a practice that has been quietly developing since childhood. Long before photography or sculptural lighting became his medium, Marshall was making objects from whatever he could find. His first functional sculpture—a stool created at age 11 from a discarded shovel and scrap metal salvaged from his father’s workshop—revealed an instinct to see possibilities where others saw waste.

That impulse remains at the heart of Marshall’s work today as a photographer. His photography style is one drawn to the way light creates shape—revealing form, casting shadows, and transforming the ordinary into something worth noticing. Creating light through forms became a natural extension of that practice. His sculptural light fixtures are assembled with the same curiosity and resourcefulness, transforming industrial materials into objects that feel both familiar and unexpected. Rather than simply constructing objects, Marshall composes relationships between material, memory, and light.

The exhibition’s title carries personal significance. Marshall began creating these works during his sobriety journey, finding that in lamp making, he is able to practice curiosity, patience, and transformation. While that experience shaped this body of work, these sculptures ultimately reflect a broader idea: that sometimes the light we’re searching for is something we create ourselves.

This book compiles scavenged photos from dumpsters around Fort Worth, Texas, giving them a new life and lens to moments frozen in time. Rather than presenting them as found objects alone, the collection thoughtfully sequences these anonymous photographs into a shared visual archive that perseveres fleeting moments that would have disappeared.

Words Without Songs by Jacob Johnson
A visual symphony is the only way to describe Words Without Songs. Songs Without Words explores the relationship between music and photography through a carefully sequenced collection of black-and-white images. Instead of arranging the photographs by subject or date, the Jacob organized the book using the structure of a classical musical composition, allowing the images to build rhythm, contrast, and repetition as you sift through its pages.

Haven Demo Series by havenartcurations
Launched by our good friend TOBIAS JACOB in 2023, Haven Demo is the publishing arm of his multifaceted practice, dedicated to archiving and celebrating the work of emerging and established artists across Texas.
The latest issue features the work of Danica Milošević, inspired by In Your Dreams, an exhibition curated by Alexandra Hulsey.
