Opening ceremonies at this year’s ASRA Race of Champions at Daytona International Speedway will feature a skydiving demonstration.

"Mr. Douglas" is a historic 1941 Douglas DC-3 aircraft that will create an excitement never seen before! A professional skydive swooper Tyler Hudson going 90+ mph across the Start/Finish line, inches above the ground, to the checkered flag! Along with the large U.S. flag, ASRA banner and more.

Wanted to thank everyone that helped make our trip possible to Seminole Lake Gliderport. It was our pleasure to fly Mr. Douglas in to be used as a backdrop for a scene in a new movie. We were very excited to see Mr. Douglas. landing, and taking off on this awesome grass strip. It’s been years since He’s done that! John Makinson and copilot Dante made it look easy.

History took flight once again! 🛩️🪂

On April 4, 2026, jumpers, aviation enthusiasts, and friends gathered to celebrate the relaunch of Mr. Douglas, DeLand's legendary DC-3. The iconic aircraft performed flawlessly, carrying 98 skydivers and 8 observers as it returned to the skies in spectacular fashion. Read more about the event below 👇

The Mr. Douglas Society, Inc. is sad to report the passing of our Treasurer James Bennett. Jim passed away in his sleep on Memorial Day. This was Jim‘s favorite slot. front floating on Mr. Douglas. Lots of times he would be wearing cameras, but here He’s just having fun! Jim was part of the Indiana Bunch! Who’s motto was “We came to party!” He was notoriously fun and a good load organizer!
