It's the Cape Cod Museum Trail! Here, you can visit a variety of museums along the trail from its tip and the Pilgrim Monument to Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich. Explore photo galleries, view videos, read stories or just take a virtual tour any time of the year. It’s a convenient way to plan your visit to one or more museums. The Cape Cod Museum Trail is a very convenient, easy-to-navigate, one-stop location to plan your vacation or just stay current every month with our calendar of scheduled activities, events and exhibits. The Cape Cod Museum Trail, sponsored by First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union, launched in late 2014 when a few museum directors were invited to discuss ways to share, coordinate and promote each other’s vast and diverse resources. It continues to evolve with many new member museums joining the trail monthly.

🕯️ Looking for a spooky and sophisticated night out this October?

Experience a darker side of Cape Cod's history at the Falmouth Museums on the Green! Their interactive Sins, Sips, and Secrets tour takes you inside the historic 1790 Dr. Francis Wicks House. In each room, you will hear eerie, true tales of Falmouth's shadowy past drawn from old diaries and local newspaper records. Spaces are strictly limited to 15 people per tour, so you will want to grab your tickets fast!

📅 When: Thursdays (October 15, 22, and 29, 2026) at 6:00 PM (Drinks and social hour start at 5:30 PM)

Discover how maritime history is shaping modern science! Join the Cotuit Historical Society on Thursday, October 15th at 7:00 PM at the Cotuit Library for Whaling Captain's Logs: An Historical Treasure Chest. Experts from WHOI and UMass Dartmouth will share how researchers are using 4,200 century-old logbooks to track global climate and weather changes.

Celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day with a meaningful visit to Heritage Museums & Gardens on Monday, October 12, 10 AM-5 PM! Spend the day exploring the reproduction wetu, mush8n, and a special Three Sisters demonstration garden while reflecting on the vibrant Wampanoag culture that has shaped Cape Cod.

It is a wonderful, educational event for all ages to learn, connect, and enjoy the gorgeous fall grounds. Even better, Heritage is offering completely free admission to all Indigenous individuals for this special day!

Do not miss your last chance to explore local history before the season ends! The Aptucxet Trading Post Museum are heading into their final weekend of the season, which runs through October 11.

You can stop by for a tour on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. It is the perfect weekend activity to walk through the historic buildings and enjoy the grounds along the Cape Cod Canal.

Check out the Gelliprinting Workshop at the Cahoon Museum of American Art in Cotuit on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM! Led by artist Anna Murfin, this beginner-friendly class teaches you how to create beautiful, layered prints using textures and everyday materials—no printing press required.

Registration is $65 for non-members and $55 for members, with all materials included. Plus, there is a second advanced workshop on November 4th, and you can sign up for both at a discount!

Looking for a meaningful way to learn about local history? Check out this upcoming event called "From Time of Creation: The People and the Place of the Wampanoag Homeland" at the Atwood Museum - Chatham Historical Society in Chatham.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 5:00 PM, Aquinnah Wampanoag author and historian Linda Coombs will be speaking in the Mural Barn. She will share powerful stories about the Wampanoag origin history and their traditional way of life on Cape Cod. The event takes place at the museum located at 347 Stage Harbor Road. Tickets are $10 for non-members, and completely free for museum members. Spaces are limited, so make sure to reserve your seats ahead of time!

Step back into local history with a unique twist! 🍻

The Cape Cod Maritime Museum is hosting "History on Tap: Talking Pictures" on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Joe Yukna will share rare World War II photographs of Camp Edwards and Cape Cod, including stories about the base's 1941 black bear mascots. Tickets are $10 for the public and $5 for members, which includes local craft b**r, cheese, and crackers.

Calling all Cape Cod bakers! The annual Apple Pie Contest is returning to West Dennis on Saturday, October 10, 2026!

Think you have the best recipe in town? Dust off your rolling pin and see if you can take home the prize. Not a baker? No problem! Everyone is welcome to come out and taste the delicious entries after the judging.

Get ready for an evening of quick wit and completely unscripted fun! 🎭

The Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis is hosting its inaugural "Artful Improv Night" with Improv Cape Cod on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Drawing inspiration from the art world and audience suggestions, this fast-paced comedy show plays out just like "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" where anything can happen. Tickets are $24 for non-members and $18 for museum members.
