A National Historic Landmark, and a member of the Nations Trust for Historic Preservation's Historic Artists Homes and Studios program, the museum is owned and operated by the Stony Brook Foundation, an affiliate of Stony Brook University.

The former home and studio of Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) and Lee Krasner (1908-1984), two of the foremost abstract expressionist painters.

Mission: To preserve and interpret the artists' living and working environment, to offer public programs that promote the understanding and appreciation of modern American art, and to provide facilities that advance scholarship, stimulate inquiry and encourage creativity.

The Bridgehampton Road Rally visited us today. Love those vintage wheels! Part of the competition is a Trivia Quest, with answers to trivia questions posted at various stops. Our question: What color was the Ford Pinto in which Ruth Appelhof chauffeured Lee Krasner in 1974? A photo of the car was taped to the studio door.

Claude Picasso and his wife Sylvie visited us yesterday--his second visit, her first. He could see his father's influence in our Pollock painting, "Composition with Red Arc and Horses" ca. 1938. One of the horses is straight out of "Guernica."

Twenty years ago this week, the Academy Award-winning film "Pollock" was shot on location at the Pollock-Krasner House. Ed Harris, who starred as Jackson Pollock and directed the film, was nominated for Best Actor, and Marcia Gay Harden won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Lee Krasner. (The dog that played Gyp was not nominated.)
