A customer shared this image of a beautiful Rouault painting we framed recently in an amazing finished corner frame.

The International Montessori School will be holding its annual fundraising Gala on Saturday, April 12. As part of the Gala each classroom is creating an art piece in alignment with the Gala theme “International Landscapes and a World of Wonders.” We are happily providing a gift certificate and framing the pictured piece for the silent auction. This piece is an artistic interpretation by the Spanish Lower Elementary classroom of the Rainbow Mountain range located in the Peruvian Andes. Each student used a slotted quilling tool to roll 5mm width strands of paper into over 500 spirals of varying sizes to create the mountain range. Their teachers created the clouds and their Head of School, Angela Bailey, created the sun. In addition to learning about this exquisite mountain range that was only discovered in 2015, after the snow covering it melted, the students also learned the art of quilling - which can be both a frustratingly difficult and a calming, meditative activity.

Beverly McIver and Craven Allen’s John Bloedorn hosted NC First Lady Anna Stein and her staff at Beverly McIver’s studio yesterday afternoon. The First Lady spent time learning about Beverly’s life and work, seeing paintings from all 30+ years of McIver’s career.

Stein was very enthusiastic about the work, saying that Beverly is her favorite North Carolina Artist. Beverly will be lending two paintings to the Governor’s Mansion at the First Lady’s request.

Damian Stamer’s “Twins” opens TOMORROW, with a reception from 5 - 7pm.

“Twins” features a selection of paintings exploring Damian Stamer’s life as an identical twin, and how that identity intersects with his experience of memory and place. “I have long experienced the subtle dance between mirror and self—a relationship marked by both profound similarity and unique divergence” he explains. “This exhibition transforms that lifelong dynamic into a visual exploration that delves into the psychological depths of what it means to see oneself in another.”
