🌈 Gallery Hours Update! 🌈​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​We're open today and Friday from 5-8, including the artists talk with Gail Belvett of The Art Chose Me from 6-8 on Friday.

This weekend, Pop Box Gallery will be closed Saturday and Sunday as we’ll be out celebrating Pride: Durham 2024! 🎉🏳️‍🌈 While we won’t be open for the usual hours, we invite you to join in the festivities and look out for something fun: Pop Box Gallery's co-founder, Laura Ritchie, and the amazing Art Ain’t Innocent crew will be parading with a BIG purple octopus float! 🐙💜

We’ll resume regular hours next week, but in the meantime, don’t miss the parade and be sure to follow for all the details!

Join us Friday, 9/27 from 6-8 PM at Queen Street Magic Boat for an inspiring Artists’ Talk moderated by Gail Belvett of The Art Chose Me. Hear from artists Gadisse Lee, Kwaku Osei, Teddy Devereux, R. Stein Wexler, Destiny Hemphill, and echo hower as they share their unique perspectives on life, loss, and legacy. 🌿🌸

Pop Box Gallery, The Art Chose Me, and Queen Street Magic Boat present “Death Planted a Garden.” On view September 6 - October 20, this uniquely immersive art experience features twenty-two Triangle-area visual, sound, literary, and multidisciplinary artists exploring their lived experiences of loss through activation of the entire property: the house, outbuildings and the land.

Queen Street Magic Boat (QSMB), located at 406 N. Queen Street in Durham, was conceived in the historic home, garden, and studio space of artist, organizer, and dive instructor Catherine Edgerton. Rich programming is planned throughout the exhibition run, including artist talks, a Slow Art tour, art-making workshops, and community events.

Please join me (Laura! Hi! 💁🏼‍♀️) on Tuesday, May 21 from 5:30 - 8:00pm at Portal Studio for the inaugural *Art Buyers Invitational.*

The event features a curated selection of new or rarely seen photographs, drawings, mixed media art, and sculptures by Derrick Beasley (), Catherine Edgerton (), Meg Stein (.stein.art) and Cornell Watson (). All work will be available for purchase in the $500 - $3,000 range with options to pay over time.

Join in a conversation with Durham’s Mayoral and City Council candidates as they share their vision for strengthening arts and culture in Durham, helping voters make informed decisions at the ballot box. The program, moderated by Monica Barnes, Community Engagement Director, WTVD ABC11, includes a special welcome from Durham Poet Laureate DJ Rogers.

This free, non-partisan public event is presented by Durham Arts & Culture Advocates, a coalition of artists, historians, arts and culture leaders and institutions.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Slow Art Tour yesterday 😊💓.

Gail Belvett once again led us through an extraordinary discussion and showed us the magic of diving into art as a collective 🪄.

🏡 Our residency in Old East Durham ends on July 1st, so be sure to check out upstART Gallery: a project by Jim Lee before it closes!
