Today we’re highlighting Robert Minervini — his work is part of this summer’s group exhibition.

Robert Minervini is an artist working in painting, mural painting, printmaking, and site-specific public art. His work examines spatial environments and notions of utopia in large-scale cityscapes, landscapes, and still-life arrangements.

He received his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, and his BFA from Tyler School of Art. His work has been exhibited nationally, including solo shows with Hirschl & Adler Modern, NYC; Edward Cella Gallery, LA; Rena Bransten Gallery, SF; as well as group and two-person exhibitions with the San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose, Torrance Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, Palo Alto Art Center, Schneider Museum of Art, and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He is a recipient of the Murphy and Cadogan Fellowship by the San Francisco Foundation, and the Carmela Corso Scholarship by Tyler School of Art. He has completed multiple murals and public art commissions nationally including through the San Francisco Arts Commission, The Alameda County Arts Commission, and the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. He has been a resident artist at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, the Headlands Center of the Arts, and the Vermont Studio Center. His art has been published in New American Paintings (No. 91 and No. 109), Beautiful Decay, and Mural Art: Large Scale Art from Walls around the World. Minervini’s work has been reviewed in the LA Times, Modern Painters, San Francisco Chronicle, Art ltd., and featured in ArtWeek LA, 7x7 Magazine, and The Huffington Post. His work is in the collections of the San Jose Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, the City and County of San Francisco, and many private and corporate collections. He currently lives and works in Florence, Italy and Oakland, California.

Today we’re highlighting Peter Frederiksen.

In Peter Frederiksen’s work, nostalgia is being weaponized. The concept of the past as a “better time” is used as an aggressor and pushed out in fear of social progress. The artist uses nostalgic imagery popularized in the “Golden Age” of cartoons to show violence in art, as well as art as violence: Wile E. Coyote painting a tunnel on the side of a wall meant to capture and kill the Road Runner; a piano dangling from a fraying rope waiting to fall on an unsuspecting victim; a note in a song rigged to explode when played correctly. Drawing a parallel between these violent images and the longed-for era in which they were created, these threats of danger are rendered in soft materials emphasize their ridiculous nature.

Peter Frederiksen lives and works in Chicago. The majority of his pieces are freemotion machine embroideries inspired by post-war Warner Brothers cartoons. Utilizing familiar imagery, the work examines fear, panic, toxic masculinity, anxiety, anticipation, and humor all through the lens of the shared visual language of Looney Tunes cartoons. Frederiksen has been exhibited most recently in New York, London, Berlin, and Milan.

Currently in the Viewing Room, work by Bertrand Fournier.

Fournier’s practice explores a playful tension between abstraction and suggestion. His work reduces forms to essential, almost childlike geometries, allowing color and line to carry symbolic and emotional weight. Fournier moves freely across series to avoid constraint, cultivating a visual language that is both immediate and enigmatic. Bold, flat colour fields and irregular shapes coexist in fragile harmony. In this liminal space, his compositions become landscapes of thought: simple in appearance yet rich in coded meaning.

Bertrand Fournier lives and works in Paris. A self-taught artist, he began painting in his early thirties, developing his distinctive vocabulary of symbolic geometry with remarkable immediacy. Fournier has exhibited widely across Europe, as well as in the US and Australia, with solo shows in galleries such as Sebastian Fath Contemporary (Mannheim) and Alzueta Gallery (Barcelona), among others. His work has also been presented in international fairs including Art Dubai, Zona Maco, Art Miami and Art Paris. His paintings are part of notable collections such the Reinhard Ernst Collection and the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens Collection, marking his consolidated presence in key contemporary art contexts.

Congrats on your current solo show NINO MIER GALLERY Brussels and Happy Birthday! We met Ronan long ago in Marfa in 2006, No country for old men and There will be blood were being filmed. He and our daughter Camille performed in a play together. Then in 2023 we saw Ronan SPRING/BREAK Art Show in LA it was such a please to see him after all these years! We loved his work and invited him to exhibit with us Dallas Art Fair in 2023.
We love seeing the success and happiness of artists we’ve presented in the past and present!

The artist takes classical Greco-Roman forms and “compresses” them into perfect, pristine cubes carved from Carrara marble. Gallery artist Juan Alberto Negroni is having a solo exhibition at El Kilómetro in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

‘Penínsulas Serán Islas’ (Peninsulas Will Become Islands) continues the concerns raised in Revaluation of Origin, expanding the investigation of memory, territory, and historical construction toward a reflection on perception and belonging. In this series, the monolithic forms function simultaneously as bodies, stones, islands, and peninsulas, ambiguous entities oscillating between the geological and the human. The frontal quality of many of the compositions engages with the tradition of portraiture and with representational strategies associated with monuments, while other images suggest aerial or cartographic views of fragmented landmasses. This duality reflects an interest in how we choose to look at things and how our emotional, political, or historical proximity transforms our position in relation to them. The peninsula and the island thus emerge not only as geographical formations, but also as metaphors for connection, separation, and isolation. The linear structures and systems superimposed onto the forms mediate the viewer’s visual experience, relocating the monolith from its condition as an inert object into a symbolic space where identity and origin remain in constant reconfiguration.
