Curated by Thomas Feulmer, Moreno’s first solo museum presentation brings together mural-scaled paintings and immersive works that explore history, myth, identity, and cultural belonging through a striking collision of Old Master traditions, Mexican symbolism, surrealism, and science fiction.

We’re thrilled to be featured in Patron Magazine latest issue, “The New Luminaries,” for an inside look at Dallas Contemporary’s 2026 sold-out Gala, Candela.

This year’s celebration will honor the global influence of Latin American art and culture, with Iván Argote serving as our 2026 Honorary Artist. The evening will bring together art, design, music, and culinary experiences, alongside live and silent auctions featuring works from leading international galleries.

The Gala will also mark the opening of Argote’s exhibition, How to Move a Monument on a Tuesday Morning.

Close out Dallas Contemporary’s 2026 Summer Series with an evening of live jazz, local art, and creative exchange. Musicians from the Institute for Creative Music will provide a live jazz soundtrack for the evening, alongside the rescheduled DC Empty performance of Andie Flores: This Is A ______’s World. Throughout the museum, guests can browse a marketplace featuring artist vendors from across the region and discover original artwork, publications, and handcrafted goods. The evening will also feature a special tattoo pop-up from Bug House Tattoos, offering exclusive flash designs inspired by Dallas Contemporary’s current exhibitions. Celebrating the intersection of visual art, music, and community, this event offers a fitting finale to a summer of dynamic programming at Dallas Contemporary.

The IfCM Collective will perform two sets of music. Inspired by Francisco Moreno: Historia Sintética’s themes, characters, and style, the program features composed music and text (distinct and recognizable touchstones) connected by fully improvised connective material. Both sets will contain elements of the same music and text but will be performed in two distinct ways. Expect elements of audience participation along with familiar and surprising sounds and visuals.
