We're excited to announce the return of George Washington's Whiskey Rebellion for this year! To help celebrate ten years of rebellion, we're kicking things off with our special Independence Day Weekend Sale.
From FRIDAY JULY 3rd THROUGH SUNDAY JULY 5TH, a limited supply of tickets will be available for the discounted price of $45. This is a mark down of 25% off of the advance sale price (and 50% off of the day-of/at-the-door price), so you won't want to miss out!
The festival, brought to you by the Community Trust Foundation in partnership with Boggs and Company Wealth Management, will open September 11 at 6:00 PM. Tickets to the event include tastings of small-batch spirits from over a dozen distillers, a beer and wine bar, a souvenir whiskey glass, hors d’oeuvres, colonial-era games, and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will support the operation of the Allegany Museum.
Actors portraying various historical figures, and more than 100 reenactments of other scenes from local colonial history, will pop up at locations around Cumberland. There will be chances to interact with amusements popular in mid-18th century colonial Maryland. Hundreds of attractions at the nearby Heritage Days walk will provide food, crafts, and entertainment, with attractions for children.
The Whiskey Rebellion was the only time a sitting president led troops into the field when President George Washington rode to Fort Cumberland. The show of force was sufficient to quell the rebellion.
