2017 marks 80 years since the creation of the Allegany County Historical Society, one of the first organizations born to preserve and promote local history. The ACHS was formed in 1937 with intent to foster preservation and promotion of local history. ACHS today is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization, sharing the love of history through artifacts, programs and relationships old and new. Here are the details of PFC Carpenter’s burial procession on Friday. There is something powerful for everyone about being MIA from our community for over 80 years on foreign soil and then returning home. Please recognize this moment tomorrow in whatever way you wish.

🇺🇸 PFC Kenneth L. Carpenter – Procession to Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery 🇺🇸

On Friday, October 23, 2026, the procession honoring PFC Kenneth L. Carpenter will depart Boal’s Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. as we accompany him to his final resting place at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.

Procession Route:

The procession will travel along MD Route 135 toward McCoole, where we will turn onto U.S. Route 220.

We will continue along U.S. Route 220 through Cresaptown and Bowling Green before merging onto I-68 East.

From there, we will follow I-68 East to Exit 50 (Rocky Gap) and proceed to Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
