This October, Zhou B Art Center will not be hosting our usual 3rd Friday event. Instead, we will be opening for a special 3rd Saturday in Celebration of the Zhou Brothers 50 years of achievements and collaboration!

Everyone’s favorite public event is back! 3rd Friday is THIS FRIDAY! Be sure to join us between 7pm and 10pm to take in all the sights.
We will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with (3rd Floor) as they showcase the work of Gary “Traz” Juarez () and Ismael “Ish” Mohammad (), along with a musical performance by Trió De Ruido consisting of on Violin, Charles Malavé on Guitar, and Ausberto Acevedo on contrabass (1st Floor).

"Chromatic Convergence" invites you to witness a curated collection that celebrates the multifaceted ways in which artists perceive, interpret, and interact with color. In this vibrant assembly of paintings and photographs, we unlock the door to the artists' inner worlds, where color acts as both muse and medium. With a deft blend of abstraction and figuration, each artist presents a unique manifestation of color's intrinsic essence.
Color, more than a mere visual stimulus, resonates deeply within the creative soul. From David Hummer’s evocative brushstrokes to Peter Blindt's enigmatic abstract compositions, every artwork on display encapsulates the artist's sense and sensibility towards color. The exhibition becomes a symphony of emotions, where color serves as a reference, a symbol, a conceptual vessel, or an outpouring of expressive sentiment.
"Chromatic Convergence" features a collection of works by Melissa Arostegui, Peter Blindt, Donna Bliss, Joanna Cislak, Karen Fike, Deanna Gibson, David Gista, Richard Herschberger, David Hummer, Robin Malpass, Jane Michalski, Nancy Natow-Cassidy, Cynthia Roberts, and Roslyne Smith.

Meet Chicago based artist Sebastien Johnson who was part of the Zhou B Art Center’s recent exhibition Beyond the Brush. Mark-Making in Abstraction. Curated by Sergio Gomez.
The Zhou B Art Center in Chicago is proud to announce the opening of "Beyond the Brush: Mark Making in Abstraction", an art exhibit curated by Sergio Gomez. The exhibition explores the creative ways in which artists have utilized alternative tools, techniques, and materials to produce abstract paintings.
The opening reception for the exhibition will take place on March 17, 2023, from 7 to 10 pm. The public is invited to attend and enjoy meeting the artists while viewing the impressive collection of abstract works.
"Beyond the Brush: Mark Making in Abstraction" features a diverse selection of abstract paintings from artists who have embraced innovative and unconventional mark-making techniques. Found objects, layering and mixing of media, and other alternative tools and techniques have been utilized by artists to create unique textures and mark-making effects.
Curated by Sergio Gomez, "Beyond the Brush: Mark Making in Abstraction" presents a broad range of abstract works that explore the expressive potential of mark-making. The exhibit features works from artists BOJITT, Drew Harris, Michael Ireland, Sebastien Johnson, Hai S. Lam, MKODJ, and Carlos Santos.
The exhibition will run from March 17 to May 12, 2023, and is a must-see for art enthusiasts, collectors, and anyone interested in contemporary abstract art.

(𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟏) The Zhou Brothers finished a large series of paintings, From Heaven to Earth, which helped define their own artistic expressions in painting. Their work started catching the attention from many around them.
(𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟑) 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐙𝐮𝐨 was assigned to work up on the mountains and was separated from his family. During this time, he was allowed to paint but only portraits of Chairman Mao. 𝐃𝐚𝐇𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐠 stayed down in the village with Po Po, collecting bottles for recycling money while honing his calligraphy skills.
In honor of 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, we celebrate Asian-American artists and their respectable achievements and lasting contributions to the art world. The Zhou Brothers, world renowned Chinese-American contemporary artists, have been painting collaboratively together on the same canvas for over 45 years from 1973 to today. Influenced by their life journeys, their unique style tells a story of revolution, art, and the pursuit of their dreams.
