Today (September 26, 2026) is the final day of our 2026 Summer Season, and we are so thankful to all the visitors who made this summer so wonderful! It is only through your ceaseless support that we are able to continue sharing this remarkable piece of history. After today, the Mansion will be closed until late November, when we kick off this year's Tinsel Through Time exhibit.

We wanted to say "See you later!" with a couple more historic photos. This first photo of the front exterior is undated, but is a great reminder of the duo of corner-side evergreen trees that used to be on the property (our basement/foundation does not miss their root systems πŸ˜†). The second photo is undated, but showcases some exterior decorating for Halloween, and it seems someone's pet dog got involved, too! And the last photo represents the holiday decor that the Mansion has always been known for. This photo of the Drawing Room is officially undated, but Mansion staff can presume it dates prior to 1915, based on the fireplace mantel style. When the Kendricks lived at the Mansion from 1915-1917, First Lady Eula Kendrick upgraded the fireplace mantel, as she made many of the beautiful design choices of their personal home (Trail End State Historic Site, a fellow WYO PARKS site in Sheridan).

From April's Opening Day and Annual Egg Hunt, to July's "Festival of Patriots" for the America 250th celebration and the 130th Cheyenne Frontier Days and beyond, thank you being a part of this summer season. Stay tuned for upcoming details, and we'll see you for the holidays come late November! 🀩

Turns out THIS WEEKEND is the last chance to check out the High Iron exhibit, as its Cheyenne residency is coming to a close! Read on for the details from this Wyoming State Museum post.

Late September marks the natural wind-down of many sites coming to the close of their Summer Season, and the Mansion is included. Stop by the before we close after Saturday, September 26, 2026! Of course, our closure will be brief enough for Mansion staff to get the place spruced up for this year's Tinsel Through Time, so you don't have to miss the Mansion for too long!

Did you know?!

The Mansion has a gift shop!

While not as extravagant as other museum gift shops out there, we still have some pretty cool things for sale.

Enamel pins, logo stickers, shirts, and more!

Come check it out next time you're visiting us. All proceeds go to things like future exhibits and events.

Join us for this year's historic no-bake recipe program. This time around we are exploring Jell-O and the many sweet and savory recipes which have used gelatin throughout American history. We will talk about that history while preparing a simple Jell-O recipe. When the preparation is complete, we will take a 30-45 minute tour of the Mansion while the gelatin sets. This program is free and open to the public, though we do request that you register for it here: https://loom.ly/zIe2Yqc. Registration simply ensures that we bring enough supplies for all participants. We hope to see you there!

Have you recently driven past the parking lot next to the Capitol, and wondered about the eye-catching 1950s train car parked there? Well, wonder no more, and go explore inside on Saturdays, 2:00 PM through 7:00 PM (particularly during the Cheyenne Cruise Nights), with FREE ADMISSION! 🀩 www.highiron.org

Inside you will find the "High Iron" traveling exhibit, the first of its kind to showcase the immigrant history of railroad labor, and other immigrants who helped build Wyoming. This exhibit first arrived in Cheyenne for the Capital City Celebration on July 4th, and it is temporarily visiting now through Saturday, September 26, 2026.

These photos include a small example of the awesome Wyoming history on display; stories from local families (most of whom are Cheyenne-related) with immigrant roots who sought out opportunity in Wyoming, alongside this 2025 painting by Danielle SeeWalker of two Indigenous women that commemorates the impact the building of the railroad had on Native American tribes.

The Mansion now has "High Iron" reading material on-hand for our curious visitors, as "High Iron" has Mansion ties! It notes how First Lady Zenia "Jean" Emerson was an active supporter of helping Cheyenne's 1920s-1930s Japanese community acclimate to America and the Wild West. In fact, HGM staff included such information in a socials post back in May for "Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month." We included the railroad workers photo that is on the exterior of this train car, as if we beckoned "High Iron" to Cheyenne before its July 4th opening! πŸ˜„

So add a visit to this incredible (and temporary) traveling exhibit to your Saturday plans, and stop by the Mansion if you haven't yet this summer season. We are open Wednesday through Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with FREE ADMISSION for all!

A big "Welcome to Cheyenne!" for all folks in town for the 119th Laramie County Fair (LCF)! Happening now through August 8th at the Archer Event Center, this is the largest county fair in Wyoming. 🌽🚜🐷

The LCF/4-H and these pictured First Families:
The LCF began in 1907 while Governor Bryant B. Brooks was in office, and 4-H (nowadays known as the nation's "largest youth development organization") began in 1913 at the University of Wyoming, while Governor Joseph Carey was in office! "The program originally began with 125 boys and girls enrolled in agricultural and home economics clubs, before federal formalization in 1914. When the program was launched, Governor Joseph Carey's children (such as his son, Robert Carey, who eventually became governor himself) were already well into adulthood, and thus ineligible for the youth program." However, modern First Family kids have been 4-H participants, including: Governor Jim Geringer's five kids, Governor Matthew Meade's son and daughter, and Governor Mark Gordon's four kids (plus, Jennie Gordon, First Lady of Wyoming was a 4-H kid herself)!

So go support the awesome efforts of the 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) youth at the , then stop by the for a FREE ADMISSION visit, as the Mansion is still kicking through this summer season (Wednesday - Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)!
