September 22 is National States and Capitals Day—and we may be a little biased but we think Wyoming has a pretty good one.
So, we’re celebrating Cheyenne, Wyoming’s capital city, and the Wyoming Capitol at its heart.
For more than a century, the Wyoming Capitol has stood as one of the state’s most recognizable landmarks, a symbol of Wyoming’s history, identity, and independent spirit. It’s also the People’s House, where generations of Wyomingites have gathered to shape the state’s future.
And this year, the Capitol has another reason to be part of the story.
In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, “Wyoming’s History in 76 Objects and Places” explores the people, places, objects, and ideas that have helped shape the state we know today.
From the Apsáalooke People and the Bighorn Mountains to the Yellowstone Supercomputer, the book tells Wyoming’s story through 76 fascinating pieces of its past… including the Capitol!
