The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum mission is to preserve and share the heritage of the American West as experienced through the celebration of Cheyenne Frontier Days™. A premier cultural and historical center, the Museum offers year-round education programs and rotating historic artifact exhibits that celebrate the heritage of the American West and the thrilling history of the world's first extreme sport. The Museum features some of the most intriguing western artifacts in the region including one of the most extensive collections of carriages west of the Mississippi. Transport yourselves through the great adventure of the “World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo and Celebration” with a visit to our brand new exhibit – Cheyenne Frontier Days: A Frontier Phoenix. The new exhibit captures the drama and the romance of the very first rodeo in 1897 unveiling how CFD has grown and changed over the years. The newly renovated gallery has interactive exhibits, artifacts and new displays that showcase how CFD has persevered through adversity due to the dedication of many passionate individuals. Trace the history of the rodeo from 1897 through 1907 and discover the characters that bring this history to life including wild bucking stock, steadfast volunteers, early pioneer families, and don’t forget the cowboys and cowgirls. A variety of cultural programs throughout the year also allow visitors of all ages to step back in time and experience Cheyenne's history Let the kids explore the newly renovated interactive children's gallery and visit the museum store for western gifts and rodeo souvenirs. For an hour or two, travel back in time and relive the western legend. Open year round in Frontier Park! TOMORROW IS OUR FINAL THANKFUL THURSDAY!

Join us tomorrow, October 15, for an evening of fun, games, and amazing auction items! We have some wonderful items up for grabs, including beautiful jewelry, purses, Wildcatter Suite tickets, original artwork, and so much more. You won't want to miss it!

Doors open at 4 p.m., dinner is served at 5 p.m., and the live auction begins at 6 p.m. You can also support Mended Hearts by participating in their silent auction!

We’re Hiring! Join the team at the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum as our Exhibits Manager!

We’re looking for a creative, organized, and collaborative professional with a passion for history, the American West, and connecting visitors with engaging stories through exhibits.

The Exhibits Manager will lead the development, design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, and evaluation of permanent, temporary, traveling, and special exhibitions. This role works closely with Museum leadership, curatorial and collections staff, educators, vendors, and community partners to bring exhibits from concept to completion.

The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Western Art Show and Sale is recognized as one of the premier Western art shows in the Rocky Mountain region! Serving as a great kickoff to Cheyenne Frontier Days™, the show attracts collectors and buyers from across the country.

Interested artists have until this Friday, October 16, to submit their work for consideration. Please note that the submission deadline has been extended from October 14 to October 16!

Last month, our volunteers enjoyed a trip to the Centennial Village Museum in Greeley! It was a beautiful day filled with history and a wonderful opportunity to learn and explore together.

Last Friday, we also hosted a volunteer breakfast social! It is always great to see our volunteers come together, enjoy good conversation, and spend time with one another outside of their usual roles. We are so grateful for our amazing volunteers and the time they dedicate to the Museum!

The Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Old West Museum cordially invites you to attend the inaugural Black Hat Gala on Friday, November 6, at the Cheyenne Frontier Days™ Event Center. This distinguished fundraising event will support the Museum’s mission to preserve and share the heritage of the American West for generations to come.

The evening will feature an elegant dinner, live and silent auctions, a wh***ey pull, and the presentation of the inaugural Raymond C. Kinter Western Heritage Award. This award recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to preserving, promoting, and advancing Western heritage in alignment with the Museum’s mission. The inaugural award will be presented to the Lummis Family in recognition of their enduring contributions to Western heritage.

Guests will gather for an evening celebrating the history, traditions, and cultural significance of the American West while supporting the continued preservation of the Museum’s collections and educational programs.
