Wood firing week—from repairs to firing. Check out some highlights from this really rad process!

The big firing results can be viewed at our upcoming fundraiser “Light the Fires” this coming Sunday! Enjoy a beautiful evening on our kiln patio with us, with live music from Painted Porch—and check out the results of this wood firing.

ISP Registration for 2027 Is NOW OPEN!

Are you a ceramic or warm glass artist looking for a place to create, grow, and connect with fellow artists? We’d love to welcome you to our Independent Studio Program (ISP)!

We have some exciting new options for 2027:
-Monthly Membership: Enjoy the flexibility of $90/month instead of one upfront payment. Cancel anytime!
-No-Shelf Memberships: Perfect for artists who love working at home but want access to our studio, too! Bring your tools and work with you each visit, and we’ll take care of the firing and glazing.

ISP Member Benefits:
-Connect with fellow artists through special events and programming.
-Enjoy a 75% discount on 4–8 week classes with eligible shelf memberships.
-Build your skills and creative practice in a welcoming, supportive community.

NEW THIS YEAR--Glass Layered Wreaths!!

We love how these are turning out, and so excited to see them up in our participants home for the holidays---check out one of the recent Autumn Leaf wreaths all decked out for the season, and photos from last week's Holiday Holly Wreath Workshop---and we have one more coming up!

Welcome the holiday season by creating a stunning 10-inch layered fused glass wreath! In this festive workshop, you'll learn how to layer colorful fusible glass to build depth, dimension, and texture. Using special glass nippers, you'll shape your own leaves before designing a one-of-a-kind wreath with holiday accents such as holly leaves, berries, ornaments, ribbons, and sparkling decorative details.

This larger statement piece makes a beautiful addition to your holiday décor and is perfect for hanging on a wall, displaying on a door, or showcasing in your home throughout the season. Display ribbon is not included.

No experience is necessary—all materials, instruction, and kiln firing are included. Your finished wreath will be ready for pickup approximately three weeks after the workshop.

SIGN UP for our 1st Day of the Dead Clay Animal Workshop!!

Celebrate Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) through clay, color and creativity!
In partnership with Fuerzas Culturales Ballet Folklórico de Cedar Rapids, we’ll explore the rich traditions and history of Día de los Mu***os and the important role that animals play in this celebration. In Mexican traditions, animals can serve as companions and guides for the spirits of loved ones, while Día de los Mu***os itself is a joyful time to remember, honor and celebrate the lives of those who have passed.

During this hands-on workshop, participants will create their own colorful Day of the Dead-inspired clay animal, using bold patterns, playful shapes and bright colors to give their creation its own personality. No previous clay experience is necessary!

Come celebrate art, culture, family, remembrance and the joy of life with us!

Our nonprofit studio and mobile department has been filled with activity this week—from on site Creative Aging Workshops, Wood Fire Kiln repairs, School Field Trips and lots and lots of Classes and Workshops—it has been packed! It is always fun to see the range of art being made, for all skill levels.

We don’t think there is anything better than being surrounded by people who are happy and creating!
