TOMORROW NIGHT--Join us at September's First Thursday Opening Exhibition!

Chocolate Brown
An Exhibition by Morgan Hageman

Exhibition Description
Chocolate Brown explores the relationship between texture, process, and form through a distinctive approach to ceramic construction. Using piping tips traditionally associated with cake decorating, Morgan Hageman has developed an innovative technique that transforms soft clay into richly textured vessels and sculptural forms. Each piece reflects an ongoing investigation into surface, repetition, and material, as the artist continues to refine her process and discover new possibilities within this unconventional method. The resulting work blurs the line between the familiar and the unexpected, inviting viewers to experience ceramics through a fresh tactile perspective.

As a former Resident Artist, we are so excited to host her at the center to show her recent work.

Artist Opening Reception:
First Thursday | September 3rd
5:00–7:00 PM
Artist Remarks: 5:30 PM
Chadima Gallery
Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio

About the Artist
Morgan Hageman received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2015. Following graduation, she completed a year-long Artist Residency at the Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (2015–2016). Since then, she has continued to cultivate her studio practice from her home studio, creating new bodies of work for commissions and exhibitions throughout the region.

CLASSES START NEXT WEEK!

Meet Roger Bergen---Roger has become a familiar and much-loved part of the Iowa Ceramics Center & Glass Studio community since 2018, serving as a Studio Member, Instructor, Studio Manager, and, in his own words, a “Mud-Slinging Potter.” Before joining ICCGS, Roger was the Studio Manager, Instructor, and a Board Member at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek, Wisconsin.

Roger’s love of pottery began in high school and grew into a lifelong passion during college, where he developed his craft and his fascination with everything that makes pottery work. And if you’ve ever listened to Roger talk about clay, you know he sees pottery as so much more than simply making a beautiful object.

That curiosity carries directly into his teaching. As a wheel instructor, Roger loves helping students of all skill levels and ages, to understand not only how to make something, but also the mechanics of body positioning to help the wheel work FOR you.

Roger brings decades of experience, a genuine love of teaching, a healthy appreciation for getting covered in clay! We still have space in his Tuesday evening wheel class which begins .

FALL IS CALLING… AND SO IS THE GLASS STUDIO! 🎃

We’re heading into that favorite time of year—cooler weather, changing leaves, cozy nights, and a little Halloween fun. And we’ve got some fun glass projects planned for September!
✨ September Glass Workshops:
🧡 Fall Flannel Plate
🕷️ Crawling Spider
🍂 Fall Layered Wreath
🎨 Bob Ross-Inspired Fall Landscape

These workshops are a great excuse to get together with a friend, try something new, and spend a little time making something with your hands. No glass experience is needed! We’ll have the materials ready, walk you through the project, and take care of the kiln firing.
And because these are seasonal projects, they’re only around once a year. If one catches your eye, don’t wait too long—some workshops tend to fill up quickly!

🎃 Pick a project, grab a friend, and come spend an evening (or Saturday!) in the glass studio.
