Finally someone has come to their senses

For years, the volunteers who care for outdoor community cats have existed in a kind of legal gray zone. In many places, they risk being cited for abandonment simply for doing TNR, which involves trapping cats, getting them spayed or neutered, and returning them to their outdoor homes.

A landmark bill introduced in Maryland in February 2026 aims to change that, not just in Maryland, but potentially across the country.

Ash's Law, House Bill 912 and Senate Bill 750, was drafted by Alley Cat Allies and introduced in the Maryland legislature. If passed, it would make Trap-Neuter-Return the official state policy for community cats throughout Maryland. More importantly, it would prevent any county or city within the state from banning or restricting TNR programs.

The bill is named after a community cat named Ash. It also addresses the abandonment issue directly, amending Maryland state law to ensure that individuals carrying out TNR cannot be criminally charged for returning a cat to its outdoor home after the procedure.

This is significant because the current situation in many jurisdictions is deeply counterproductive. The very act of helping a community cat through a responsible, humane, evidence-based program can expose a volunteer to legal consequences. That discourages participation and leaves cats worse off.

Supporters of the bill include advocates, veterinary professionals, and legal experts. Opposition has come primarily from county government representatives concerned about losing local authority to set their own animal control policies.

The bill is being watched nationally as a potential model for similar legislation in other states.

Ok here it is the finished addition.
It starts out at the exsisting upper Catio and drops down to enter the top of the transition tower that brings the kitties down to the next set of tunnels that lead into a 6 x 6 freestanding Catio that has a external litter box enclosure full height natural sisal branch fire hose hammock.
And best of all check out that view 👀👀👀🚤🐟

THE CAT-A-WALL SYSTEM is DEAD !!!
(And no more custom cat trees)
Is just been a colossal waste of materials and labor so I officially give up and bow Down to the cheap Chinese crapp.
People are just not interested in an innovative well built cat enrichment system that’s adjustable or a cat tree that doesn’t fall apart and made from cheap materials.
I tried for 4 years now and I sold only 2 kits and a couple of mesh beds
Priced them just barely over what it cost to produce with good materials (not the Chinese balsa wood)

We tried to produce a quality product at a reasonable price but that business model doesn’t work in today’s markets
So don’t support your local business or USA made pet products
A lot of these smaller and local businesses support rescues and shelters and pet hospices in their areas.

Do you see any of the foreign or domestic large corporations Influxing any visible support to your local pet community??
If you can your lucky because unless it can make a big enough splash and attract huge attention they aren’t interested because their in for the profit not helping locally
You can ask a lot of rescues, shelters and humane society’s in my area about the work and items we have seriously discounted or given for fundraising over the last 7 years.
We have donated 3 Catios to local rescue groups but unfortunately we will have to stop as we were hoping to fund some more with Cat-A-Wall sales that are just not happening so with that the Cat-A-Wall system is not going to be produced any longer

We need to help this rescue
100 cats is a huge intake for even larger rescues

Kitty Kat Haven and Rescue in Central Alabama is seeking help after taking in nearly 100 cats from a shed in Alabaster, where they were living with their owner.

This is today’s install. We got to the job site at 8:30am and was packed up and rolling home by 11:30. And the homeowner was flabbergasted at how quick it went.

This half deck conversion Catio has an internal litter box enclosure and dual hideaway boxes. It also has insect screen overlay ,floating steps and ramp.

The owner was so kind to even put up pictures of his kitties so that we could see who we were building for.

Ok I have been thinking about this being the last year that I personally will be building and installingCatios.
At 68yo and 2 attempts to retire I think it’s time.
I wish I could keep on forever building Catios and making kitties and their families happy but unfortunately that’s not a reality for me as I won’t be here much longer on this planet .

What I don’t want to happen is for Catio BoB as a brand to disappear into oblivion.
I’m not selling the business or totally bowing out just trying to find someone to assist in keeping the building and installation part going with my shop manager.

What is needed is someone that has some basic carpentry skills and able deal with the crazy hours.
Mostly it’s 8-12 but not always at our Athens Georgia shop and a full days work or overnights on installations that can be in the southeastern US areas.
But finding that unicorn person has proven to be difficult and the reality of possibly ending Catio BoB is an ever present challenge because it takes min. 2 to install catios.
I know I have very few followers and most won’t read this far or care but if you find it your heart to share or maybe know someone that fits and keep Catio BoB helping kitties be safe and happy into the future.
