Last month, Jasmine Gonzales, a Gallery Teacher at the Museum and President of the Women's Art League of Akron, joined the Creative Aging Institute. Jasmine, who primarily works with clay, taught our participants how to create wearable art pieces!

The Museum's 3rd Annual Creative Aging Summit will be on Friday, November 13, beginning at 9 am. This year's Keynote Speaker is award-winning photographer Sky Bergman. Attendees will receive a link to screen her film Lives Well Lived.

Kent State University highlighted alum Laura Gagnon, the Senior Project Director of Perspectus. Laura helped lead the renovation of the museum’s original 1899 building.

Naudline Pierre conjures fantastical worlds full of movement, transformation, emotion, and beauty. Her artwork features mysterious, celestial figures among delicate, jewel-toned washes of color, swirling lines, and skillful applications of paint or ink, as well as adventurous experimentation with metal.

The content of Pierre’s work is deeply intimate, with a pantheon of transcendent feminine beings conveying a broad range of expression—from anger to resilience, tenderness, and more. She calls on viewers to imagine their way into her unfamiliar realities, and thereby to see how their own reality might also change and grow.
