The BOX Gallery

The BOX Gallery Non-profit, artist-run gallery exhibiting contemporary art in downtown Akron. It is a project of Artists of Rubber City, run by members and volunteers.

The Box Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that opened in 2009 on the 3rd floor of Summit Artspace in downtown Akron, Ohio. The gallery is open Friday, noon - 7, and Saturday, 11 - 5, during exhibitions. Members of Artists of Rubber City are eligible for month-long exhibitions in the (small) BOX Gallery.

Summit Artspace renovations are beginning in early August, with completion anticipated by late November. Because the building will be closed to the public during this time, all summer exhibits are ending. Watch for the grand reopening later this year!

While the outlook of unease and negativity in our current surroundings can be discouraging, it is incumbent on us to actively search for the sources of joy in our lives.
These artists have come together to encourage others to seek out their joy; to explore what “trips their trigger” and share it with others.
Joy lifts. Joy inspires. Joy brings hope. Joy brings perspective. Joy produces gratitude.
