Words from Sky Janics: I am starting this fundraiser for my dad after a serious motorcycle accident that left him in the ICU, where he will be for a while. He is completely immobile right now, non-weight-bearing, and only just beginning to move his arms a little. He has suffered a skull fracture, a right shoulder blade fracture, a left shoulder dislocation, fractured clavicle, four broken ribs, a collapsed lung, left fibula, tibia and femur fractures that required corrective surgery, a broken right ankle, and serious road rash and skin tears on his back and arms. Seeing him go through this has been heartbreaking and tough to swallow.
My dad has always been my number one supporter, even when things were tough. He has worked himself to the bone to provide for our family, and riding motorcycles has been his passion his whole life. Now he needs help. One of the hardest parts is that the trauma center hospital he is in is 7 hours and 30 minutes away from us. The only family able to make that trip are myself, his daughter, and his brother. It is hard to get there to see him, and he has no friends or family nearby.
The costs around his recovery are ongoing and more than our family can carry alone. Donations will help with hospital-related costs, travel and food during trips to see him, assisted nursing facility costs, in-home and out-of-home physical therapy, and bills that fall short because of the constant travel. Recurring donations would help us keep up with these continuing expenses as his care and recovery are ongoing, and one-time donations would also make a big difference, even if it is just $1.
