8 วินาที จะมีอะไรเกิดขึ้นได้บ้าง
8 วินาทีของพวกเราแทบไม่มีอะไรสลักสำคัญนัก เกิดขึ้นและจบไปง่าย ๆ หากแต่เหตุการณ์หนึ่งได้อุบัติขึ้น และตอบคำถามสั้น ๆ คำถามนี้อย่างเจ็บแสบที่สุด
เกิดแผ่นดินไหวขนาดใหญ่ที่ประเทศพม่าขนาด 8 แมกนิจูด เมื่อปี 2568 ส่งผลกระทบต่อเกือบทุกพื้นที่ในประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะพื้นที่ตึกสูงในกรุงเทพฯ ตึกที่ทำการสำนักงานการตรวจเงินแผ่นดิน (สตง.) หลังใหม่ยุบตัวพังถล่มลงมาในระยะเวลาเพียง 8 วินาที และเป็นตึกเดียวในประเทศไทยที่ถล่มจากเหตุการณ์ครั้งนี้ ก่อให้เกิดข้อสงสัยมากมายถึงมาตราฐานการก่อสร้าง และการทุจริตในระดับต่าง ๆ ที่ส่งผลร้ายแรงต่อความน่าเชื่อถือของสถาบันแห่งนี้ มันราวกับตบไปบนบาดแผลชื่อ “คอร์รัปชัน” เป็นแผลสดที่อักเสบช้ำเลือดช้ำหนองอยู่เป็นระยะ ๆ และไม่เคยมีคำว่า หายดี
“ประวัติศาสตร์ 8 วินาที” ของ ธนพล แก้วพริ้ง เป็นเหมือน “ตลกร้ายเชิงหลักฐานทางโบราณคดี” ที่เก็บบันทึกจากมุมมองของประชาชนผู้เฝ้ามองการถล่มของตึก สตง. ไม่ต่างกับรับชมการแสดงสดที่มีแสงไฟฉายจับมายังกลางเวที
ภาพฟุตเทจจากมุมมองหลากหลายถูกนำมาแตกย่อย โฟกัส และประกอบขึ้นใหม่ ให้มุมมองราวกับเรื่องเหนือจริง รวมทั้งหลักฐานพยานจากสถานที่เกิดเหตุ ธนพลเก็บมาเล่าและตีความอีกครั้งด้วยเทคโนโลยีด้านภาพในปัจจุบัน ผลักให้งานชิ้นนี้พูดเรื่องปัญหาสังคมได้อย่างแหลมคม และร่วมสมัยยิ่ง
ธนพล แก้วพริ้ง ทำงานหลากหลายในแวดวงศิลปะ เป็นทั้งศิลปิน ช่างภาพ ผู้กำกับ และบรรณาธิการ เขาใช้สื่อหลากหลายในการสร้างชิ้นงานศิลปะภาพถ่าย อันแฝงไปด้วยนัยยะทางการเมืองและความเป็นไปทางสังคม งานของธนพลเคยจัดแสดงในแกลลอรี่ พิพิธภัณฑ์ เทศกาลศิลปะ มาแล้วมากมาย ทั้งในไทยและต่างประเทศ

8 seconds, what can possibly happen?
8 seconds for us are usually meaningless, passing by easily without a thought, until a single tragedy struck and gave this short question its most bitter answer.
In 2025, a massive magnitude 8 earthquake struck Myanmar, shaking almost every part of Thailand and sending tremors through Bangkok’s skyscrapers. The new headquarters of the State Audit Office (SAO) collapsed in a mere eight seconds, becoming the only building in Thailand to crumble from this event. This disaster sparked widespread skepticism about construction standards and deep-seated corruption within various levels of government, dealing a severe blow to the institution's credibility. It felt like a violent blow to the wound of corruption in Thai society, a raw, infected sore that flares up time and again and never truly heals.
8 Second History, a photographic project by Tanapol Kaewpring, serves as a piece of "archaeological dark humor." The work captures the event from the perspective of citizens who witnessed the collapse of the SAO building as if watching a live performance under a spotlight.
Tanapol sources video footage from diverse vantage points across social media, breaking it down, focusing on details, and reconstructing it to create an almost surreal narrative. By gathering physical evidence from the site and reinterpreting it through modern imaging technology, he sharpens the artwork into a poignant, highly contemporary critique of social issues.
Tanapol Kaewpring works in various areas of art, as an artist, photographer, director, and editor. He utilizes a diverse range of media to create photographic works layered with sharp political and social undertones. His work has been widely exhibited in galleries, museums, and art festivals, both in Thailand and internationally.
